In other words, you expect multiplatform games in the US to have bigger unit bumps for the X1 than the PS4? How is that supposed to happen?
|
Nope. I said the Xbox is gonna take the US back again slowly. Xbox one will outsell the ps4 in the US is what I meant. It will happen I know it and it will take 1 game at a time. Exclusives and multiplats. Ghosts did sell better in the US on Xbox one.

I know what you said, I just want to know how exactly the X1 will take back a market it's been consistently losing in from day one. "Exclusives and multiplats" explain nothing, especially since PS4 will have those, too. Ghosts sold better on X1 in the US. Indeed. Now tell me - what was the amount and how much did it impact console unit sales last November? What were the console ratios in the US last November, versus what it is today?

Exclusive games sell consoles buddy. Can't believe you did not know that one. Plus NA is a Microsoft land just like Japan is a Sony land. I'll just leave the sales from 360 and ps3 in the US as a sign as to why the Xbox is very popular in the US.
360: 47 mil
Ps3: 27 mil
Sales in the US. Check it out if you don't believe me. The gap only increased every year.

And 20 million of that 47 million were PS1 and PS2 owners before 360 came along and the vast majority of those people will return to PS4. Because, only about 1 million of those 20 million actually bought the premier Xbox exclusive franchises (Halo 3 7.83 million, Halo 2 6.82 million). It was actually the cheaper price and the superiority of the multiplats that got people to buy 360 in the USA, and now neither of those advantages exist, hence we are seeing people going back to PS as their preferred platform.
If exlusives sold consoles then Halo 3 would have sold 15-20 million on 360 in the USA to keep in proportion with the hardware sales increase, not <8 million. Exclusives help for sure, but they are not the full story. The total library sells the consoles and the perception right now is that console versions of mutiplatform games are best on PS4. Unless/until MS can change that perception PS4 is relatively safely in the winning position this generation.
Also where do you get the idea that USA is MS land like Japan in Sony land? Fact of the matter is USA was Nintendoland last gen. 360 will eventually overtake Wii in the USA, but for the years of the 7th gen it really mattered Wii was the console that was all the rage.
Anyway OT: from before the generation started I said fps was more important than resolution and I still say that today. Resolution is only an aesthetic thing, and once yu get into the HD territory is it has no bearing on gameplay 720 vs 900 vs 1080p it's really no big deal gameplay-wise. Personally I'd rather thave top notch anti aliasing than maxed out resolution.
Rock solid 60fps on the other hand does affect gameplay, or rather lack of rock solid 60fps affects gameplay. Sure 30fps, as long as it's solid, is fine for many if not most games, but 60fps improves the gameplay experience of many types of games. IMO developers should make fixed 60fps their benchmark and then achieve best AA possible at 60 fps and then best resolution possible at 60fps with best AA possible. If that comes out at 900 or even less then I'm fine with it.
Of course this generation it's not actually about resolution, it's about the diference in resolution on PS4 vs Xb one with all other aspects being the same. And what matters about that is that SOny can claim to have the technically best version of a game on consle and that is a definite selling point. Even if 99% of gamers can't see a difference between 1080p and 900p the fact that you can promote PS4 as having the bigger number makes people want to get it. It's similar to the mobile phone screen wars in that respect.
