Forums - Sony Discussion - Why does Sony release unfinished Products and take forever to Update?

It is something I have been noticing more and more of late.

PS4 was announced with several features way back that it still has yet to recieve, even after Sony reiterated them to be coming "soon". How is it we still do not have suspend and resume? A feature that Sony brought to the table and MS has seemingly stolen and implemented already.

This just makes me remember back on PS3 and 360. PS HOME was announced way before Xbox Avatars yet still got beaten to release. When HOME finally was released it was nothing of what it was originally stated to be. No being able to theatre room movies with friends over internet(understandably though due to possible law suits) or the simple interactive Trophy room.

PS Vita debuted without PS1 compatibility being functional. WTF? This should have been a day one feature, seeing as PSP had long since had this, the template was already there. Not to mention even still to this day you still cannot see every PS1 game available to the Vita ON THE VITA!!! Which is just crazy.

Vita also didn't get HULU until recently......when even the 3DS had it.

Now we have Playstation (Vita) TV which for some ungodly reason is not compatible with Netflix. In this day and age how do you even release a set top box device that can't use the most basic and popular of apps? If not on day this should have been a first week feature. To just leave this up in the wind with statements like "It is not available at this time" is unacceptable.

I don't know what Sony's testing process is exactly but it needs a drastic overhaul pronto. From the time you announce a feature, it should be ready to implement shortly after launch.

Greatness awaits. You just need to wait longer I guess

Because it still sells?

Probably because they have a list of priorities, and everything you've mentioned is lower down on the list. That's my guess.

Sony isnt good as it used to be in past. PS3 launch, PSP Go, PS Vita, PS Move and PS 3D TV etc proves my point. Heck, they said driveclub ps+ edition will be given out to cheer out people who were sad with mandatory ps+ news. Still they are improving. But they havent improved enough.

Sony tends to have the best hardware but not software. Ms tends to have the best software but not hardware. Sony is a hardware company. Ms is a software company. It's expected

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

What I would like to know is what the hell is up with their servers; it always takes forever to download and install updates, firmware and patches.

Sony doesn't specialize in OS updates like MS. Its amazing they've done as much as they have thus far and we know we'll get more too.

But some of these are directly related to the success of the product. Sure, PS4 is doing just fine without getting some of the promised features. Yet PS TV pretty much needs Netflix to even be relavent, why does it not have it day one? No common consumer(who should be main focus audience) is going to be interested in this device unless it can do what all the other similar devices promise as well. At this point it is a cheaper PS Vita with less functionality and not portable. They could have just released the rumored HDMI cord that connects into Vita's mystery plug for all this trouble.

The industry has changed since ps1/ps2. Now you can't just release a game then don't care about it anymore, it needs regular patchs to keep players interested.

Same goes for the console, now you can't just release the consoles and tell to companies behind popular apps "hey, you can do it for my console". No they have to port it themselves, a shit ton of them, because people don't need 1 or 2, they need hundreds of apps that actually could be reduces to 2-3 proprietary apps, because of all the cross-platform apps and hyper-connnectivity.

It's not that they are worse than before, they just have 3 time more things to do than before
