Forums - Gaming Discussion - Gameplay Trailer for Mass-Murdering Shooter Is Beyond Brutal

This plays directly into the hands of the anti-gaming lobby.

It's feeding them ammo to use in the fight for censorship.

Gonna play the shit out of this.

To paraphrase Kylo Broflovski: Either all of it is wrong, or none of it is.

This! Freaking this!

Went through the entire thread looking for it.

Just like comedy where you either make fun of everything no matter how sensitive it is (9/11, AIDS, handicaped) or nothing. If you draw a line, it means that you approve of making fun of something and not of something else.

In other words, you encourage to kill people if they have a reason (a red sign above their heads) or to do it as a joke (we're killing them hookers but since it's funny it's all good). If your treat them as video games and deparaate reality from the video game world, then you have  clear distinction that in real life killing is wrong. Period.

How is this any different from any other game filled with murder and violence? God of War, anyone?
Kratos is not on some holy mission, he just loves ripping the spines out of random people.

Because in God of War you are killing mythical creatures and monsters sent by Gods to kill you.

Here, you just slaughter innocent people at random and it seems to be greatly inspired by actuall massive shootings in real life.

It's not the realism or amount of violence that is the problem, we have games waay more violent than this, it's the context which makes this game unacceptable, and the developers clearly stated they are making this just to go ''against the trend'', so it's pretty obvious shock value for the sake of shock. Cheap

And that reasoning is total bullshit. Murder, is MURDER. It's not "okay" in any game. Never has been. I'm not going to argue against this being cheap, I agree with that.

"greatly inspired"...  Ever thought of the ethics in war games? Oh right, it's okay to murder in those. I'm leaving this thread, this is silly...

Again, war and mass civil shootings are not the same. Fighting back against peole trying to kill you isnt morally wrong, it isnt even illegal. Thats why we have self defence laws.

That trailer felt like a punch in the gut,but that's what makes it so interesting for some reason. I did'nt like the tone, but i'd still get this if there was a ps4 version, just out of morbid curiosity.

No, they are not the same. War is far worse because it affects so many. People are  very often forced by law to enlist in the army and no matter what they think or how they feel, they are forced to go out and kill people from another country (or their own country). Not a single one of those soldiers ever had a say in when, where and why. A select few orders thousands upon thousands to go out and slaughter, all for the sake of these select few's own interests.

You think that's okay? You think that's justified? You think that's morally correct? You have serious issues if you think like that.

The reason why it works in games, is because they are games. They aren't real. Want games to be taken more seriously? Wanna take the industry to the next level? Blame mainstream. They don't care.

No one cared when videos of saints row came out where the protagonist were beating screaming civilians to death with the giant dildo. "lolol killin with a dildo!"
GTA has the same exact scenario (like Hatred) available, gunning down fleeing civilians in the middle of the street. No one cares.

Don't like Hatred? Don't buy it. Wanna ban Hatred? Take a good hard look on what's already available. Otherwise, this situation is basically SJW-bullshit all over again.

Game's probably a trap. Wouldn't be surprised if it comes with a free "get swatted soon after you buy it" coupon.

What?  I am not arguing whether or not war in real life is worse, we're talking wheter is it morally the same to kill a solider tying to kill you or a random innocent person

You think that's okay? You think that's justified? You think that's morally correct? You have serious issues if you think like that.

You are grasping at them starws pretty hard. Look at my previous point.

And btw, yes, fighting a war is morally acceptable sometimes, unlike mass civil shootings, which never are

Just because its ficition doesnt make imune to criticism, especially when you take the game's background and inspiration into account

No one cared when videos of saints row came out where the protagonist were beating screaming civilians to death with the giant dildo. "lolol killin with a dildo!"

Different context again. Saints row main selling point isnt killing people with giant dildos just for the sake of killing them. It was an option, but it was never the centre of the game, whereas in hatred, thats exactly what they are trying to sell the game on,

GTA has the same exact scenario (like Hatred) available, gunning down fleeing civilians in the middle of the street. No one cares.

Same as above. GTA has TON of other stuff to do and mass murder isnt its selling point

Don't like Hatred? Don't buy it. Wanna ban Hatred? Take a good hard look on what's already available. Otherwise, this situation is basically SJW-bullshit all over again.

I dont want the game banned, I think any kind of censorship is stupid, but this game can actually have a negative effect on the industry.
