Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Halo: The Master Chief Collection will have a 20GB day one "content update".

FMD and people will defend this practice.

Bleh, it took me all day to download PvZ and that was 17GB. What happened to the days of being able to buy a game and just sit down and play?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Holy damn o_O

I've got 70meg down with no cap so IDGAF.

It looks like they couldn't fit the multiplayer on the disc.

Would take me a few minute but sad for people with data caps. Given the content it is understandable, though.

Sucks if you'e offline.

It'll probably be just maps and stuff for the online multiplayer tho hopefully so if you're just buying it for Single player offline play that wouldn't affect you at all it being missing.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Hope they dived the update content wisely.

And another reason to go full digital anyway.

It's not like they're charging for the content or so, People aren't outraged by psn/xbla games being a full game you download so just think of this as a half way point, half you get in the store and the other half you download when you get it home for no extra cash. Sure it isn't ideal but otherwise the game would be delayed beyond the 10 year anniversary of Halo 2's launch since they couldn't start printing disks until all this 20gb was ready to be added to the disks.

This may be a possibility.

The "20GB Content" is probably not finished till days before launched but the discs need to be printed already ...

If true than this is a ripoff because then you buy a disc that won't even work fully without Internet.

That disappeared with the release of the PS3 and 360, when systems included a hard drive, allowing developers to update the games if they found any problems.

Having hard drives in consoles is the worst thing to ever happen to the industry imo.  DLC is number two.

*edit*

The original Xbox had a hard drive, but the games shipped complete and there weren't massive updates for bug fixes.  The PS2 had a hard drive but it was optional, forcing devs to release a complete game at the start.
