Most of the time, I use my consoles for more than gaming. With the new update, I suspect I'll be firing up the ol' PS4 a lot more often.

One thing I'm wondering is if themes will work while an app or game is running in the background. It didn't on PS3 (for a very good reason), I wonder if it will on PS4.

The Vita and 3DS are just getting theme support now.

Since no date I guess we can expect this by next week tuesday or the upper week. The update usually comes a week or two after the announcement on the blog.

Great update, especially the content sorting and themes, now all i need is media playback, pausing downloads and to be able to use the touchpad in the browser. Still scratching my head on how that didnt come at launch.

Folders are coming!

15 stuff maximum on the game list, the rest is stored in the library where we can make our own folders or use predefined stuff (game, apps, music), with ordering.

Content Area and Library: PS4’s Content Area, which shows the latest games and apps a PS4 owner has used, has been redesigned to help make it easier to quickly find and access content. It now shows 15 of a player’s most used apps or games, and additional items will be added to a player’s Library. The Library on PS4 has improved filter and sort functions to help organize contented by type (game / app / TV & video), name (a – z or z – a), recently used, or install date.

USB music player, Fantastic addition as long as all the games allow the software to run while you play. Don't want the vitas "the song has been paused" rubbish in certain games.

I'm still waiting for the promised suspend mode.

"Sony also said PS4 radically reduces the lag time between players and their content. The system utilises a "suspend mode" which keeps the console in a low power state while preserving game sessions. "The time it takes today to boot a console and load a saved game will be a thing of the past," according to the platform holder."
