As a massive fan during the Tom Baker years, I've never really been able to get into the newest stuff. Did not like the "action hero" style.

You'd probably like the new chap more than the previous doctors in New Who. The previous 3 were kind of like knights in shining armor (especially Matt and David), where as Capaldi is more akin to a grumpy old man that begrudgingly helps people because of a twisted sense of morality. He helps because he thinks he's

A recent episode was particularly controversial because he (not really a spoiler, but i'll blank it anyway) downright refuses to help, saying sometimes humanity needs to sort out its own shit.

I've been a fan off Classic Who since the into of Tom Baker back in 1978 in the U.S. When the reboot came around in 2005, I didn't care much for it after several tries watching. I loved Eccleston as an actor and thought he would have continued to make a great doctor, but he only stayed for one season. Tennant's portrayal as the doctor I thought was just dumb because of his manic overacting. When he became emotional, it came off as more annoying that gave me a reason to not care and tune out. But there were a few highlights such as Blink, The Empty Child, and Silence in the Library. So it was no coincidence that what brought back to the series was showrunner Steven Moffit who wrote the previously mentioned stories and Matt Smith's portrayal of the next Doctor, modeling himself after the Classic 2nd Doctor, Patrick Troughton. In fact, I've had the privilege of meeting Smith at this year's New Orleans ComicCon. It's only gotten better since Moffit has taken over, and Peter Capaldi has done an excellent job with the series as the current Doctor. If you like the first four seasons, the newest ones will make those pale in comparison.

I look forward to the next seasons. And like you I liked the Moffat episodes the most, especially the ones you mentioned. Moffat models other characters besides the mains so good, so understandable and still interesting, thats just excellent.

I just got the DVD-box The Beginnings with the first three storylines and watched the first one - An unearthly child. This is naturally very different, the quality is in many aspects so much worse, but I'm much more surprised about the things that are already there. Although the first Doctor really is a bit unfriendly and grumpy. I am looking forward to the second storyline and the first meeting of thedoctor with the Daleks.

The Reboot dr who is fantastic, some amazing story arcs to be had in it with fantastic plot twists dropped at times. Loving the new Doctor tho, he is properly rough at times, Love his new intro with the clock face around it... 12th Doctor and all that.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I've been a big fan of it since 2 years back or something, when my father-in-law introduced me to it. First episode was with the 11th Doctor and the Impossible Astronaut, then I started from the 2005 re-boot :) love it
