I voted yes, since I think there is still a market for dedicated handheld games systems.
The lack of Vita sales have been because of a lack of western focused games and generally not delivering on the promise of Vita being the handheld to match 7th gen consoles on the move.

Sony needs to pursue 3rd party developers like they have done with PS4, they have those developers onside with PS4, so they could capitalize on that success with a new handheld.

The issues of memory costing so much have also been a major limiting factor to sales, if they'd just gone with SD Cards like the DS, 3DS and so on then sales would have been much better, people don't want to spend more money than they have to to game.
Or maybe they could just have an internal HDD, like an IPod and also have direct saves on game cards, leaving plenty of space on the HDD for games bought from PSN.

IMO I don't think the current vita situation proves Sony won't try again in the handheld market, what matters more is whether there is a market there and just because they haven't had decent success with it like they did with PSP that doesn't mean they can't with their next model.

If they do announce a new handheld Playstation I don't think it will happen for a few years, by which point the state of the handheld games console market will be much clearer.

Yes, a less luxurious japanese-exclusive handheld, that's what I believe, thanks to the amount of 3rd party support Sony has in Japan, it's almost a certainty.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Hopefully not. I'm tired of raging Vita fanboys on the PS Blog bitching about everything.
No handheld, no bitching. I wish they didn't even make the Vita

Fuck yeah. There's not a single article without people complaining about the most insignificant thing, I thought I was the only one seeing that xD

I'm very doubtful. With the poor sales of the Vita, the shrinking market for handhelds and Nintendos utter dominance in said market, I don't think Sony will or should make another portable system. And if Nintendos Fusion turns out to be real... well, let's just say it wouldn't be a fair fight.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

They shouldn't. Just make PS TV2 and PS5 and that'll be that.

Crazy how they can go from selling 80m one era to less then 20m the next...

I love my Vita but sony have little to gain from releasing another handheld after this debacle. I guess the rest of us should hope Nintendo finally delivers on the Hardware front (full HD, Comparable to 360 in specs but with a more advanced GPU, indie dev friendly and 2 analouge sticks)

Off topic: but PSP Go should have been the psp successor, similar form fact, same name, dual analouge sticks, lots of internal memory, 720p LEDtouch screen and it should have released at the end of 2010.

Vita was a way bigger disaster than PSP, so if they are smart, they should quit.

PSP disaster? One of the biggest misconceptions. The 3DS will probably struggle to meet PSP hardware numbers.

The only way the psp performed poorly was in its software attachment ratio outside of Japan.

Well Unity support, a promotional platform for indie devs and a more refined second stick (I haven't played with it but it looks fidly).

Full HD could very well happen IMO and with the 360 comparison maybe not in regards to raw power but in appearance hopefully. The pace at which mobile components are advancing bodes well for this imagining Nintendo releases the system late 2016 or 2017.
