I'm a real sucker for languages, I want to learn a ton of them. When I'm as fluent in french as I am in english (and not to brag, but I'm pretty fluent in english), then I think I'll go for something entirely different, possibly Russian or Chinese.

I must say Japanese is a LOT easier to learn than Chinese. But I'm probably biased so...   Russian sounds really cool as well, I'd like to learn that one day.


Is Japanese a tonal language? Because afaik, that's one of the things that makes Chinese as hard as it is. Russian is because it's the root of all Slavic languages, and if you know Russian you can pretty much communicate with all slavic people.

No, Japanese is a phonetic language, which is exactly why it's easier than Chinese. Tonal languages are stupidly hard

That's actually pretty cool, I've always wanted to learn more languages, but I never got around to it :/
