Have you changed your mind on if Bayo 2 will flop?

I always believed it'd do amazing 81 26.13%

I changed my mind at some point 13 4.19%

I still have my doubts, but it may do alright 113 36.45%

Sorry, I still think it'll flop 100 32.26%

Simple question. Have you changed your mind on if Bayo 2 will flop? I know I have.

Admittedly, for a long while I didn't understand how Bayo 2 really fit into the Wii U lineup. Early on, I even figured it'd be cancelled as the WiiU entered its darkest hour of the summer doldrums of 2013. Later on,  I felt as if it'd be doomed to a fate much like or worse than the Wonderful 101 -- a great game, but incomplete, and poorly marketed.

But my feelings started to change beginning of this year when we saw a new gameplay trailer in February. By E3, I felt like there would be a chance for the game to sell well, but didn't figure on Ninty committing to market it. I had some GOTY-like tinglings too. And the included Bayo 1 in the package made this game very appealing. But we still had the limitations of the WiiU's audience and market position.

When I watched the direct, I felt like this would definitely be a better game than the Wonderful 101 and felt confident it'd sell better than that title. Even when it flopped in Japan, I knew it could do better in the west. #OperationPlatinum seemed like a nice idea, but maybe not one that'd be realistic.

Then the reviews came in. First: Edge 10/10. Then a week or so later, here we are.  Hype levels through the roof for the demo. Bayo 2 rising on Amazon day by day with more than a week left to go. Nestled between Hyrule Warriors and Smash, I know there's an audience to buy this game.

So there you have it. Will Bayo 2 flop? In my opinion: most certainly not. At this point, even if Sunset Overdrive and Dragon Age end up being really good, they won't be able to steal Bayo 2's thunder.

And to everyone else still adamant it'll flop -- I hear crow tastes really good with BBQ sauce.

Here's how I'll define flop for purposes of this thread:

Flop: For an exclusive, sells less than 1 million ish units in its first 2 years. Poor critical and user reception may or may not be present and to blame. But more emphasis on sales in determining floppage.

Examples: ZombiU and Lego City are sort on the brink of floppage. The Wonderful 101 was a flop. Wind Waker HD == not a flop.

Define flop. I don't think it will manage anywhere near Bayonetta numbers, but I am not worried that it will do Wonderflop 101 numbers, either.

Flop has just a vast array of meanings now a days. I don't think it will move much consoles or sell much copies but it will still be a great game for Wii U owners.

Its a great game with an awesome, over the top, crazy and liberated style.

Will absolutely be getting this game along with a WiiU.

I'll make that easy
Flop: Sells less than 1 million ish units lifetime. Poor critical and user reception may or may not be present and to blame.

The problem is that I don't really know how much it needs to sell to be considered a flop.
I think it will do alright considering the circumstances.

Oh. I don't really expect it to make 1 million, but hopefully it won't be far short of it. I could see 750k-ish lifetime, maybe.

It's going to sell a modest amount of units. I think 500k to 750k. Not as good as the last game but it's ok considering it's out on the Wii U.

Its been doing better than I expected on Amazon hourly since reviews started popping up, but that doesn't exactly mean much...

I also would argue that 1mil is the flop line...I would say:

Under 400k: Flop
400-800k: Meh
800-1200k: Good
Above 1200k: Great
