Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Netflix worth it for Wii U

So Netflix came out in Germany and I could use it via Wii U.

Is it worth it? What notable movies / series are not on Netflix? Is it in english? What Internet speed do I need for HD?

Thanks.

I highly recommend house of cards (Netflix Original). I really cannot tell you what the library is, since it varies from nation to nation.

Yes it is worth it on the Wii U, I typically use netflix on all my devices minus the xbox360 (I hate the interface to activate an app on it), and Wii U and PS4 have generally worked well for me.

With the PC however, I am able to watch American Netflix (I am Canadian). So I choose PC more often.

Well you can use it on PC and just about everything else too.  All you need is a basic connection (5-10 Mbps) for HD.  As for the content, that is for YOU to find out since it is YOUR country.  In America and England it does have an asstounding amount of great content though. (Those are the only countries I have used it extensively in)

Yeah, it's definitely a bit illegal, but pretending to be in other countries is very helpful

Between Netflix UK (where I live) and Netflix USA I have a mountain of content to choose from. Not everything, not necessarily the most up to date, but a deep backlog to get through

Faking your location on the Wii U might be a bit more challenging that on a computer

I dont know if Netflix is diffrent in each country but the Netflix US has a really good mix of older classics (Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink etc.) and new popular movies (Star Trek into Darkness, Avengers, Hunger Games etc.)

It also has a lot of TV shows but they're usually past seasons of the show. Blacklist, Walking Dead, The Following, Breaking Bad are all great shows to start watching if you haven't already. They also have some amazing shows they created: House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. My personal favorite is Orange is the New Black. Its really, really good.

Basically if you want to catch up on popular shows or want to watch a bunch a movies its worth it. If your more into watching current seasons of shows I would suggest Hulu +.

I don't even subscribe to cable TV because of Netflix :)

There are good things and bad things about the WiiU Netflix app in and of itself:
Bad thing: UI isn't as responsive as the xbox 360 version of the app.
Good things: Can watch movies on the gamepad. Can view season, episode, synopsis, and duration info on the gamepad as your movie/TV show plays. Easier to navigate through searches than 360 version. Stream quality is very good.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Yes its worth it. Netflix is great.

It is pretty defferent, The difference between Canadian Netflix and American netflix is just insane

Ok, thanks. Seems I will try it for a month for free and then decide depending on the content I can access.
