Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Gears of War 4 Xbox One is Going to be Amazing

Most people working on it made gears 1-3 not judgment

I cant find any proof of that, just Rod Fergusson. 1 man doesnt make a studio. Just like Judgement its a new team being handed a beloved franchise and with no history to go by we dont know if they are capable of pulling it off.

Did you even play it?

The game was somewhat different but still offered (even if different) very good mechanics and the graphics were fluid and rich. Much underrated game in my opinion.

Of course I didnt play it, I dont own a 360. My brother however is a big Gears fan and said it was a massive letdown compared to the rest. And thats not him following the heard as he doesnt visit forums like this or Gaf etc. Hell he doesnt even go to places like IGN.

I still like it and had a lot of fun playing through it. And it had a lot of bad talk around before it even was released and nowadays these things seem to influence reviewers a lot.

I used to love gears of war. Gears 1 was the reason I ever got a 360 in the first place. That mad world ad was one of the greatest of all times.

Now two things that contradict each other. The first is that the series became very stale with judgement and left a bad taste in a lot of peoples mouths including me. They game won't do anything for gears 4.

Now the second is the fact they're taking so long with this and the game, will likely not release until sometime in 2016. I doubt they'd rush it to holiday 2015 as it would clash with Halo 5. Anyway my point is there will be a huge gap between gears 4 release and the previous gears. The fans could well have their hunger for the series back by then. A bit like how GTA never gets old because the releases are all spread out. No years Cod type updates.

Either way i'm shocked the series will see no games for a 4 year period. And with MS spending $100m on this it would want to do better than the last release.

Un-revealed game from a new studio (on the other side of North America from Epic)....

I'm cautiously optimistic. 2 is probably still my favourite and I didn't hate Judgement, but it will be interesting to see the direction that they go

I just hope it comes to PC

They have to introduce something new here... Gears 1-3 are great but too similar and dated at this point.

Im sure they'll change it up for the better.

And you know this how? I played all of the Gears lf Wars games, and ugh, too much testosterone that made me a temporary tomboy.

The original games were both a commercial and critical success.

Gears: 94 -

Gears2: 93 -

Gears3: 91 -

A game that always beats 90 and every one sells more than 6m.  That is very lonely territory.  What other new series has managed it?

The side project, Judgement, was an aberration and a cash grab and still managed 79.

So? There have been many franchises that fell and just couldn't rise again. Final Fantasy is an example.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

I will use a movie reference to compare.

Star Wars Orignal Trilogy Vs. THe Prequels.

The Original Trilogy was well reviewed and well liked.  The Prequels sold well and were mostly not thought well of.

Point being, that it is easy to say that you are going to make sequels to a welll thought of franchise in any medium.  The problem is, even if you bring back a large chunk of the original people involved, you could end up with a mediocre product.

Time will tell here though...

It is near the end of the end....

hope they make the multiplayer just as good as Gears 3. Then ill buy an xbox one
