Have you read the article? Probably Nintendo was one of the "companies". But once LucasArts went bancrupt there appeared many difficulties for this game release, particularly license rights.
Nintendo funded many "unusual" games for the Wii, even when it peaked sales, like Sin&Punishment, Disaster:Day of Crisis, Pandoras Tower, The Last Story, Xenoblade, and so on. They do the same for Wii U, for example Bayonetta 1+2 or Devils Third. This Star Wars game appears to be exact the kind of game they would had like to fund if it has been possible.
Multiple companies stepped in to help out with publishing, but financial hardship, legal snafus, and budgetary restrictions ultimately led to the project's final cancellation.
