Had to use the PS3 version since it was reviewed by more publications. It was VERY close, think it was battling with Heavenly Sword for #26 or #27 when I checked.

Firstly your username is brilliant.
Yeah, it's true. Not enough great hack 'n' slash games. Looking at the sales of everything not God of War you can see why publishers don't have faith that games of this genre can be big money makers.
God of War is the definitely the best hack 'n' slash, Devil May Cry is second.

I checked out gameplay for Legacy of Kain and I don't think it qualifies, looks more like an Enslaved/Prince of Persia kind of adventure game where combat isn't the primary gameplay focus. And Bloodrayne didn't score high enough to make it.
* Updated the table with a 'Release Year' section.
* Bayonetta 2 is holding onto 7th spot, it could climb up to 6th position if more positive reviews come in.
