Forums - Sales Discussion - Xbox One fails to beat PS4 a single week despite launching in multiple countries.

Will the Xbox One outsell the PS4 world wide in a week for 2014?

Yes 81 11.05%

No 489 66.71%

Maybe 94 12.82%

Catz 27 3.68%

See Results 41 5.59%

Total:732

We should wait for adjustments before jumping to conclusion. If, and I mean a big if, it's true than that's a pretty horrible beating (FH2 + China + Tier 2). I don't think X1 can do anything for the global numbers, the maximum it can achieve would be an US win and won't be by a good margin.

Even that is pretty much doubtful because when Halo and Gears come PS4 may have a sizable advantage to keep momentum. November/December will be an onslaught.

I do think X1 can win some weeks after some big games like Halo or Gears, supposing they aren't matched by big releases on PS4 that could boost it too or in weeks after price cuts or good bundles.

I think its only the week of Halo MCC that MS may have a chance. I dont think even sunset overdrive would stand a chance. Heck i cant remember the last time i saw the white console aside from the ads. They better have a MCC US/EU bundle planned. What about during COD:AW launch? That may have an impact too

360 beat PS3 almost every year during the end of year, selling massive more than PS3. I wonder if MS can reactivate this momentum at least for the end of the year in US, too, but currently they have the bad image, the "second best" image and can only compete with price as they somehow fail to bring up hype for their good games. It'll be interesting in US and perhaps UK, the rest of Europe will do as they always did: Buy a Playstation.

imho xone is slowing becoming a niche machine like WiiU.Basically if you like Xbox games, you already have the machine(or plan to pick it up anyway),thus, the games don't move enough HW even when the software is on fire.

Mario Kart sold a lot of software but hardware-wise,didn't set the world on fire.
Titanfall and, aparently, forza horizon were the same for Xone.

Doesn't matter how good the bundle is for WiiU/xone, it fails to reach PS4 "average" number with no games at the same time frame.

I don't expect it to ever win a week globally,

There are more than 80 million 360 users and currently about 17 million people who bought a next-gen system, and this is leaving out PS3 owners who bought a PS4. I see there is quite a big crowd that can still move on to either or both systems, about 145 million people that is.

"Globally in the US", it will!
Worldwide... I doubt it, because of Europe.

Those week numbers are too close . Better wait for adjustment.
But I see two other week when Xbox One has a chance. Halo MCC week and black Friday week. Europe and rest of the world is just too much for Xbox One to overcome only with the US this time around.

if Microsoft doesnt lower the price $329.99 ;) in the U.S., I dont see Microsoft ever being number 1.

Yeah, globally not any chance really.

In the US it certainly has a chance.

I think the launch week for Sunset Overdrive has the best chance to push the Xbox One ahead in America.

SO is not a bigger IP than TitanFall. its only if Sony doesn't counter it where it will be ahead for that time frame.
