doubt anyone could argue about the impressive graphics of the game (30FPS might be something for a few though).

See in Forza Horizon 2 you drive in an open world but some of events are on closed tracks within the open world |
That doesn't mean those tracks are crafted for that particular race or offer the variation and uniqueness that wildly different track locations have. Just means you don't need to check the map while racing. Putting a bunch of barriers up doesn't make it a race track.
I picked up the game an hour ago and played the first few races. Handling is good, speed great, I want to play more but my five year old is playing Minecraft currently :/ What I would have exptected DF to notice is that the game is not 1080p... There are black borders all around, it's 1864x1048. Better black borders than upscaling and the game certainly runs flawlessly, but still, it's kinda cheating. And if it were up to me I rather have 1920x1018 for a slightly wider aspect ratio instead of 28 pixel borders on the sides.
And ofcourse network features are currently unavailable
Apologies for the horrible facebook compression, looks much better in motion.
The 5 tracks I've played so far are all excellent.
Edit: scratch the resolution issue, seems it's my ps4 that's somehow messed up.
'Sound and Screen > Display Area Size' is apparently not set to full screen.
First game that actually listens to those settings...

30 fps stable, lighting, color palette, right shading, definitely. But it's obvious and clear where they cut corners as mentioned in the article.
So digital foundry say horizon 2 is competition. But its open world? Makes me really impressed with playground and their visuals they pulled.
