I'm pretty sure that someone has suggested it at some point but I'll do it anyway. I would like to suggest that a "block user" feature be added to the forums. As in that neither the person who was blocked or the person who did the blocking could see eachother's threads/posts. On someone else's thread, they just wouldn't see eachother's posts. Here's some points on why it would greatly improve the forum.

It would allow us to self moderate our own threads to prevent them from being locked because of a few posters. The OP could temporarily block someone that they felt was going overboard or they could just keep that person blocked if they wanted. The blocked user would just move onto a different thread and perhaps contribute to it. If someone was going around and annoying whatever fan base, they could just block him instead of him getting reported to no end and being banned constantly. Also, it would help with people that feel like their reporting isn't doing much. If someone kept bothering them, they could just block 'em.

I noticed that many decent threads always end up locked or abandoned because mods start threatening posters with bans and people just stop posting on that thread to be safe. That hurts discussion. If users could resolve things within their own thread without involving the mods, it would be great. The discussion continues and no one gets banned.

Blocking is a double edged sword. If you block too many people, you won't see that many threads or people posting. If you get blocked by a lot of people, you won't see many threads or posters.  So most people wouldn't use it a lot but on here they might at first. haha

It would probably help the mods in their duties with light offenses and many other things. I'm not criticizing the mods. I'm just giving a suggestion to improve the forums.

Unfortunately, anything at all like that is out of our hands.

We have no control over how the site itself works, features or anything like that. We just moderate.

Just ioi right now, with the potential for new staff in the future from something he posted a short while back.

Probably a certain weasel on fire.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I've seen new users banned after flaming but how can you guys tell if they were alts or not?

Also noticed a very harsh moderation for using the word "trolling" and I'm wondering if it can actually be used in any context

i know you can't call someone a troll even if they are but i too wonder about saying "stop trolling" and the likes.
