This isn't a post worth banning about guys. And no, that isn't flaming what so ever. It was rather polite.

It's rather annoying that you ban people for posts like this, but not the people who constantly downplay anything about a certain company.

There was a warning earlier in the thread that advised against making posts to bait other users. The warning itself was triggered specifically by bait aimed at Dr. Vita, calling him out on previous predictions and to mock him. Ryng's post, which was after the warning, continued the bait from earlier in the thread by telling Dr. Vita to "accept you were wrong". Along with that, the last sentence in the post, "Just, when you make a prediction, don't be so sure like you usually are..." shows what the intent behind this post is, the same which triggered the warning before and likewise considered as bait. So to enforce the warning, a ban was issued.

If you make a warning you need to edit the OP, so everyone can see it... Not everyone reads every single post in a thread before he posts something.

I have to agree. A ban for this even with a warning is very harsh. Ryng approached Vita in an absolute mature and polite way. We should encourage grown up behavior like this and not punish.

You shouldn't confuse approaching a user with baiting. I was once banned too for just naming a user in a polite way. That's just crazy. The people in this forum aren't little kids that you have to protect from each other. Unless they're slinging shit at each other I don't see a reason for a mod to intervene in any way. Why not let them talk it out?

On that note, why shouldn't a person be held responsible for his predictions? That's why predictions are made. Because they're fun and often risky. If we remove the failed ones and are never allowed to talk about them again, then what is the point of making predictions? Next thing we're not allowed to collect won bets because we would "mock" the person that lost the bet.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Ryng's moderated post was the second post that either mentioned or replied to Dr. VIta. The first post was a quote to one of Vita's posts about a different topic, the only significance here is that Vita's post was right above the thread warning. So I think it's fair to assume that Ryng should have seen the warning and know not to provoke the situation further in that thread.

Was Ryng polite? Yes, which is respectable.  However did he continue to prod Dr. Vita by trying to tell him to accept he is wrong, despite the warning beforehand? Yes. If Ryng was trying to offer advice as Rol suggests, then there are other well known methods that Ryng could have used, such as a private PM and not derail the thread in the process. With all things those considered, it does raise suspicion on his post at least assuming that Ryng was baiting.

Now with that being said, predictions are subject to critique by other users, as long as they're civil of course. The post which caused the warning was without a doubt, bait. It was just made to provoke and mock Dr. Vita and nothing else. But I will concede the possibility that Ryng was not baiting but trying to offer some criticism to Vita's predictions and he was trying to do it polite way. That would explain the abnormal circumstances around the bait theory.

With that being said, Ryng's post was still poorly written especially with the last line that can come across as much as advice as also a backhand compliment. The warning was there, so I do think that he should have probably avoided the topic about Dr. Vita all together instead of prodding it more but given the way he approached the situation I will reduce it to a warning.

Thanks, it's great to see that the mods do listen to feedback sometimes. I wasn't convinced of it before this post. :)

I know a one day ban is nothing, but it was a matter of principle for me.

Hi mod!
I have a problem with the bump thread, as you know.

Just for know:
Usually i can't bump the thread that are +30 days old... but what is the situation if:

1) is a prediction
2) is one of my thread

???
Thanks.

The rule states:

"Necro-Bumping (Namely posting in a non-Official/Moderator approved thread 30 days after the most recent post) will be treated as a form of spamming if the post in question has no valid reason for being posted, or treated as a form of flaming/trolling if the post in question is malicious in its intent. It will be up the moderator to rule on whether a necro-bumping post is pertinent or not."

So for example, if your prediction came true and you want to post that it did, then that is a valid reason for a post. Similarly, if you have new information for your topic (such as news updates) then that's also fine.

Some of these will take a ridiculously long amount of time to go through . But yeah they should be okay as long as the bumped posts follow the rule I posted.
