For what its worth, I have put forward something to deal with this kind of post.

Wont say more than that for now.

To be fair Kerotan is an infamous user.  Once you create a reputation like that(and this goes to any user) then youre going to have more than a few people dislike you.  Its why i think it was a bad idea to go along with the joke because it was inevitable that comments like that were going to happen.

Not to mention that people will then couple that with flamingweazels continuous toxic behavior and the vitriol Is understandable.  However, I do believe that people shouldnt be allowed to make comments like that on peoples walls even if they are permabanned, especially on site like this where can just keep making alts.  In this case though, any action made to users who commented on that wall would be victims to baiting by the mod staff... And that isnt cool...

So what did you mean then?

You know that the comment was posted on the assumption that Kerotan is truly permabanned and in such a case all rules regarding flaming are irrelevant. Permabanned users (the non-requested variant) have proven themselves to be a pain in the butt, so they are definitely the last people who are deserving of any kind of protection. Kerotan may return, but zero129 did not know that. Any form of moderation for him would violate the code of honor.

Im not talking about any kind of moderation.

Im talking about something for the future to make sure posts like that do not happen at all, regardless of who they are aimed at.

Oh... okay...

I wish you the best of luck on your quest to keep an Irishman away from booze and weed.

Are you implying that Smeags is always drunk or stoned?

But enough of that. VGC used to have a feature that the posting of wall comments would be automatically disabled on profiles of banned users. That's what you would be looking for if you want to stop that kind of posts.

For what it is worth, we are currently going over that Famitsu Review Score thread.

Thanks to you all! Though I may have never seen you directly on this site, I'm certain that you have been working behind the scenes or on other parts of the site, helping to improve this community. Good job for your dedication and effort because I know that it's not easy to be a moderator.

I was so confused to see you banned! I'd never seen you get moderated!

Thanks

Calling people salty when they are indeed salty is flaming these days?

Because i never saw a moderation about this and people says it all the time around here.

Thank you for your post. Here's my take:

There have been several moderations for calling someone salty since I've been a mod, and I imagine many more before that.

I know it's frustrating when you come across a post or group of posts you deem irrational, unfair, or otherwise offensive. And I know it's difficult to stand back and allow the post(s) to go unchallenged. But, by throwing out an insult, you're only making the problem worse. Words like "salty" or "butthurt" or "fanboy" have a nasty way of making a heated conversation boil over.

Instead of calling someone "salty" and lumping a group of fans under a single, offensive banner, why not engage with those fans in a constructive and civil way? Write something like, "It's unfair to attack a publication just because your favorite game gets a less-than-perfect score. Xenoblade didn't have a great chance to win GOTY anyway. Just appreciate the game for what it is and don't take it so personally." You get all your major points across without being provocative and dismissive. Will your words fall on deaf ears? It's possible. Will you be attacked for it? Maybe. But you've been the bigger person. You've made your point. After that, it's up to the mod team to determine if any rules were broken.

By the way, I appreciate the argument that we should all be able to honestly assess each other's posts on this forum. We should be able to call a troll post a troll post, for example. The danger inherent in that kind of freedom of expression is that everyone will insult everyone else with impunity. Every post could be invalidated with accusations of agenda, saltiness, and fanboyism. It would be a free-for-all.

So, for the time being, calling someone salty -- even if they are salty -- is against the rules.

You are forgiven, this time. But do it again and you shall fear my wrath!

Also nice post Vek.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Question to all the mods:

What is your NNID.

Thanks.
