Forums - Gaming Discussion - Assassin's Creed Unity to be 1080p on Xbox One?

The problem rigth now is Ubisoft is lowering down is already crappy stuff.

Its like saying oh this kid doesnt have the grade to go to the third ? We will lower the requiement.

Welcome to Idiocracy, Why supass are limit. its too hard. lets gatorade our plants people !.

Forcing them to put 1080 p on xbox to get the parity to ps4 would be the best way to go. Cut the bull shit. Found a way to better yourself. not the other way around.

It saddens me that numbers mean so much these days.

The problem isn't that the game is 900p. The problem is that they're INTENTIONALLY gimping the PS4 version for no reason other than to make XBO owners feel better. I'm not sure why people don't understand that.

They don't want to. Denial is pretty common.

it's not about how pretty their games are overall.  Not having it look better on PS4 compared to X1 is laziness and/or forced parity for a lesser system.  Same principal as if X1 version was made to look like WiiU or WiiU was held back for the sake of PS3 versions of games like AC3.  Hell what if PC was held back to force parity with PS4?  Terrible practice and it would show they either weren't trying to provide the best experience possible on each individual platform or they were simply being bought.  Same principal applies here.

I don't see why that is a problem. Why should they make a different version of the game for each console? If PS4 gets a higher resolution and stuff for being the more powerful console then surely the Xbox One version should get plenty of Kinect only features and the Wii U version (obviously not in this case, but for other games) should get plenty of features that make use of the gamepad.

That doesn't make sense to me, they are just making a game and porting it. As long as it works on each individual system at atleast a similar level then I think that's fine.

implementing a camera or radically different controller is completely different from upping a res or making it higher framerate.  Fact is we've seen smaller teams with less resources take advantage of PS4's extra power time and again (Shadow of Mordor?) and more powerful PC (which is basically what PS4 is compared to X1 since they're of similar architecture) is an easy thing to implement.  Hell the last AC showed that so you know that Ubisoft knows and they just don't want to because of their deal with MS.  It's unfortunate they are trying to take features away from PS4 instead of using that extra bank for Kinect features but that's the path they've chosen.

I haven't read his blog in a while o: is he still maintain the magical 5tflop/s stuff?

Yeap... and it become even better after that

That blog got out of hand the moment he insisted that the Xbox One was an FPGA.  I can't even begin to explain how stupid this is.   Not withstanding the wealth of teardowns, the complexity of the system he describes is beyond comprehension (orders of magnitude more complex than anything about the Cell); the cost of development would be astronomical and games would take forever to come out.

Is it that easy though? If it was why isn't every game 1080p? Watch Dogs for example...
Also... Shadow of Mordor, a game with PS exclusive content, isn't really the best example.

I also wouldn't call resolution a feature and why do you assume they took it away? That would mean they got it to 1080p then intentionally lowered it, doesn't it make more sense to assume they aimed for 900p on both versions from the start?

You're missing the point.  I never said every game needs to be 1080p.  If all other things are equal, then the resolution on PS4 should be better.  Now if ACU has better other features on PS4 then this is excusable but I didn't see them mention that.  That extra power has to go SOMEWHERE.  The point remains that even COD last year had better res on PS4 with exclusive X1 advertising.

They should make a WiiU version and that one should be 1080p.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

By the way has anyone seen the update. Ubisoft has completely backtracked and is NOW saying that the resolution and framerate aren't finalized. I have never seen a stranger web of crazy:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-10-07-ubisoft-defends-assassins-creed-unity-graphics-lock-for-parity-on-ps4-xbox-one

We need to develop a time line of their diverging PR statements.
1. Both will be 1080p 60FPS
2. Both will be 900p 30FPS
3. Parity will stop debates
4. Wii is not capable of running AC: Unity (And apparently it can't run Rouge)
5. Both are capable of running at 100FPS with just the GPU (Yes they said this)
6. CPU is bottlenecked by AI to 30FPS
7. Resolution and framerate have not be determined (it launches in a month)

Bonus:
8. There is no such thing as Assassin's Creed: Unity It never existed and we are all suffering from a case of mass hallucination.

The one thing I don't get is why you and others expect EVERY game to utilize the PS4's extra power as if AssCreed is a first party game. This isn't directed to you in particular, but it seems so entitled to expect this from every publisher when this rarely happened in the past. Yes the PS4 has more power, but NOT every game will use it; even moreso for games where the PS4 isn't the lead platform. Why is this such a big deal now when it never mattered in the past? Is the (overblown) power difference that big of a deal now more than ever?

Aside from that, Assassin's Creed was likely developed for the XB1 first because of the marketing deal and ported over and like Ka-pi96 said, they likely aimed for 900p from the start. This doesn't look like Microsoft forcing parity.

That would be hilarious to see, oh the reactions it would get

Oh, were talking FFXIII going to 360 levels of backlash.
