Forums - Sales Discussion - Boycott PS4 Assassin's Creed Unity #BoycottACUnityPS4

I don't do boycotts, but I am assassin's creeded out at the moment, so if I do ever get unity it will come at the bargain bin anyway, which is just about the same thing.

Apparently Sony fans forgot the PS1 & 2 eras where many multiplatform games either looked on par or even *gasp* WORSE on Sony's hardware than their competitors, but that didn't seem to stop them from enjoying their consoles and games anyway.

Yeah, funny how graphics are suddenly the only thing that matters now...

LMAO! This coming from the guy who was complaining about gimped ports just a few minutes ago.  Or is it not okay to gimp them on Nintendo consoles, but okay to gimp them on Sony consoles?  Think hard before you answer that.

Nice try, but that's not what I said. I don't think gimping is ever okay.

Let me ask you something; which system were you playing back when the PS2 was technically inferior hardware to the Xbox and Gamecube?

Has PS4 had resolution patches post launch?

Yep, PS4 version of AC4 got bumped to 1080p after launch.

Well that was just a few days after launch. There hasn't been patch to improve resolution since then.

Developers are still learning the Wii U hardware. Platinum has failed to achieve a solid 60 fps on the Wii U. Platinum struggled on PS3 early on as well.

The more we talk the more your comparison makes less sense.

Ubisoft apparently chose parity for AC:U (Hence, it was a simple option). Using the potential power of Wii U is still a struggle. Hey, developers are learning how to better optimize for X1 as well.

Gimped ports are gimped ports.

Fair enough, lets ignore the Wii U likely a pain in the ass to develop for.

Lets ignore even its exclusives aren't particuarly impressive.

That's a discussion that's been played out many times before, and one that's veering pretty far off topic.

Make another thread if you want to pursue that, I'll answer there.

I'm sorry, is it 2001?  Nope, it's 2014.  I have a 1080p LCD TV, not a 480i CRT TV.  I want a console that actually makes use of that TV.  I also don't want companies to gimp games coming to my console, just cause the other console isn't quite up to snuff.  MS could definitely take a lesson from Sony on this, as they never got companies to reach for parity, even with a huge sales gap.  Of course, back then, a lot of games were only coming out on the PS2, so you had a much better library.  Now, the games library is almost identical, except for exclusives published by MS or Sony, so why not get the better looking ones?

And if you're going to ridicule a fanbase for liking graphics, as well as gameplay, why complain about gimped ports?  It's just graphics, after all.  The games still play the same.  Seems kinda like a double standard there.

So it's okay to be graphically inferior when it's a Sony console, but not when Microsoft do it?

Yeah, it would turn some people the One and it would also hurt Sony on potential profits. So its not gonna happen for a little thing like resolution.

I'm ignoring the rest of your comments because its just pointless ranting.

Sounds more like you didn't like that last bit, which was true.  But that's ok, I'll ignore your "pointless ranting," too.

The rant simply wasn't relevant.

MS's mistakes with the X1 is not comparable to the resolution of AC:U. Its a stupid comparison and that's why I ignored it.

Millions of people purchased Watch Dogs for PS4 and people anticipated 1080p for that as well. Hence, 900p won't be a deal breaker for AC fans.

But hey, I love your original suggestion. Sony should cancel it for PS4. Its just so logical!

No need for another topic. If the Wii U was easy to develop for the ports would have been equal or even superior than 7th gen versions. Simple as that.

Wii U has no similarity to what's going on here.

I agree it's a dumb reason but... if you truly cared about graphics why not switch to PC? I mean we've been playing inferior ports of games for generations. I just don't understand the gamers of today, we've played so many great games in the past that we didn't even know what the resolution was but now it's some big deal?

Without the equipment to tell us, without the pixel counting, most people would not even know the difference or care. This has already been exposed.
