Forums - Sales Discussion - Call of Duty is now a Playstation Series.

It was a PS2 series before switching to 360 for most of last gen but it's now officially (according to vgchartz) a playstation franchise again!

Call of Duty ghosts sales:

PS3 - 9.06M

Xbox 360 - 8.99M

PS4 - 2.67M

Xbox One - 2.03M

So Sony is winning the last gen and next gen COD battle and without the advertising or exclusive content!

So will Sony keep the majority of the COD crowd for Advanced Warfare? It's hard to see how it won't. PS4 has greatly increased it's lead since Ghosts released and will do so even more in 2015. PS3 has sold more than the 360 in the last year but that effect should be minimal.

Has the Kings last fort fallen or was that a once off blip?

EDIT: I just found out that Black Ops 2 was actually the first to sell more on PS3. SO the that was the turning point.

Black OPS 2 PS3 - 13.13M

Black Ops 2 360 - 13.10M

And now that the AW numbers are in the gap is widening big time.

AW PS3 - 2.05M

AW 360 - 1.78M

AW PS4 - 4.26M

AW X1 - 2.76M

With every new COD that comes out that gap will only get bigger.

I think all multiplat series will "be PS" this gen.. Has there been any exception so far?

i doubt it and franchise like mgs that were very PS sided last gen will be a whitewash this gen.

Ground zeroes for example has so far sold

0.90m on PS4

0.59m PS3

0.18m XB1

0.10  360

When the Phantom pain releases it could sell something crazy like 5 or 6 times more on the Playstation platforms versus the ms platforms.

How things have changed.

A lot of 360ers moved to ps4 so that makes sense

People like to assume that it was an xbox primary franchise because it sold better in the on 360. Europe was a whole different story as cod was more popular on ps3 there. Its worldwide that counts. Not worldwide in USA.

i know that but world wide the 360 versions always outsold the ps3 versions by 1-2m untis. Sony slowely clawed that back and finally beat them on last gen with ghosts. But more importantly they're winning the next gen battle easily and right off the bat. Sony must be loving it. MS pays for all this exclusive advertising and Sony's version still sells the best. And if SOny gets the exclusive advertising they can a massive increase over the competition in return.

you seem proud about this....im pretty sure both fan base can agree that they want cod to die off

Now we'll have to see how good Advanced Warfare will do on PS3 and PS4 in launch week.
