Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy Remake's: Anybody Else Surprised FFVII HD isnt a thing yet?

This would be a sloopy game. It was impressive at the time, but now the whole new tech and ideas would fit much better in a brand new story. Also, it would not sell enough to justify its existence.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

HD updates cannot be done for games pre 6th gen( view exceptions). The assets/technology are just to old. It would end up being just a remake

Well, they showed us what a remake would look like almost 10 years ago. Now they're just being dicks saying "we can only make it if we know the demand is there".....even though it's been heavily demanded since that tech demo. They had the assets to begin making an FFVII remake in 2005. Meanwhile, they remake (not remaster) FFIII and FFIV on the DS, and those were NES and SNES games originally. Nobody asked for those, yet they had no problem making them. FFVII, on the other hand, is the most popular one in the series and has had a remake demanded for almost a decade and SE is "worried about the demand being there".

But, I guess we should understand by now that SE is quite illogical.

Dude, FF7 is SE's crown jewel. You better believe they will personally make the choice to remake FF7 from the ground up than a simple  remaster a team of 10 ppl can do. FF7 remake, when it happens, will be treated as if it is the next mainline FF. That will take time, money, and resources... 2 of which they dont have.

But a game that's taking a decade to make (Final Fantasy Ver...I mean Final Fantasy XV) is just fine? Or what about Final Fantasy Agit....I mean Final Fantasy Type-0? It took forever to come out as well, and now, they're releasing it for PS4 and XBone. But the one game that people have actually asked for won't sell enough to justify its existence? What kinda budget do you think they need for a game whose story, environments, characters, etc. are already set in place, so they just need to code some graphics?

they could do it. My guess is they don't have the original code and assets. So they can't like re-render the backgrounds, and things like that they'd have to redraw it.

But it's...
It is already in HD on PC.

They could technically redo the character models/backgrounds since modders on PC have done just that.

Like I said, they could have started this as long ago as 2005, when they first showed off the tech demo. Plenty of all three of those reqs were available at the time. But they said no because they were worried about demand are retarded

I don´t know man, if the improvments are minor, people would complain at all. Do you think people would be please if the game looked like the 3DS version of Ocarine of Time? I think people want epice changes.

I read stuff like this .... And I just ...

SE would not be redrawing ANYTHING. Original code and assets are irrelevant as SE will not be using them. Your not one those jokers that think when a remake of FF7 happens it will be exactly like the original but with HD graphics and pre rendered backgrounds n all are you!!!!???

I said nothing about a remake. I said they could not that they would make an HD version. Please read. The original code and assets are relevant since the HD mods on PC use the original code and assets and modify them.

I.E. I said they could do an HD version if they wanted to. because PC Mods have done just that.

But FFX HD, is not a remake. Hell the assets weren't even remade by square,  it was retextured by a chinese company. It was done exactly the same way the HD mods for FF7 PC have been done except they were approved by SE. While the FF7 PC mods have not been.

You speak as if they're obligated to remake to FF7. What if SE is just waiting for the technology to live up to their vision? to get all the OG team members together?. There are multiple factors that play into why SE hasnt taken the challenge. Hell a few years ago Wada had put a ban on FF7 remakes untill they could prove they could make an FF that surpassed 7. It has nothing to do with potentially not selling well.

They could do it, but they obviously won't do it.
