Forums - Gaming Discussion - Smash Bros needs D pad support

This seems like a no brainer but why the hell cant we use the d pad on smash bros. This is my first Smash so im a newb and am not sure if its always been like this but at least give the option to switch to your personal preferences.  This should have been in the day 1 patch and am kind of turned off a bit using the cp

Yeah I'd rather wear down my D pad than my circle pad.

Yeah it was like this in Brawl for the classic controller. But isn't it harder to pull off a strong attack versus a smash attack with the d pad for the wiimote? Had to walk/crouch/jump before pressing 1 or 2. Otherwise it was a smash attack.

They should have allowed the d pad be a hotkey for smash attack though.

I agree not that I would use it cause I find playing SSB very hard with a D-pad when I tried it during dolphin but I think the 3ds needs it when all our circle pads break and Nintendo's tactic to make us buy a N3ds comes into play T_T

The d pad was every only a choice on brawl with the wiimote but it was not good. This is not a standard fighting game. So using a dpad here is not something I want to see brought up. I don't care if this is portable. The circle pad works fine with me.

Wait, I thought the controls were customizable?

They are but not to the D-pad (Unless I am a blind retard)
