Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will LaiR and Ninja Gaiden Sigma Boost sales of the Ps3 for this Summer?

"iT IS not possible on x360" Either was DMC4. This game is very possible on the 360. Sure, they used large pre-rendered cutscenes which take up a lot of disc space; but if the in game graphics were as good as has been suggested they would not be pre-rendering them. I don't think your talking about disc space constraints, but those cutscenes are easy to compress. Since most of the pazazz in this game has been coming from those cutscenes, and gameplay videos all seem disapointing, I'm not sure why anyone would think this is a system seller. If Bill Gates thought Lair was a system seller, it would be on the 360. "the final version of LAIR uses 40% of ps3s power" Apparently with all of the framerate issues they've been having it may be using more then 40%.

again SONY bashing.

the final version of LAIR uses 40% of ps3s power  and iT IS not possible on x360/ any consumer hardware.

Now Lair is being compared to Eragon!!!!!

there is no doubt even in Bill Gates' mind that Lair would sell a lot of ps3s.

just like the ps3 pal launch Lair would be a mssive success in terms of software and hardware sales for SONY.

Seriously, where do you come up with this stuff? 40% of the processor power? X360 couldn't do it?

You sure claim a lot of bizarre things but I have yet to see you post a link verifying one word of it.

I think it's possible, just wonder if it would all fill on one disk. Blue Dragon takes up 3 disks, Kojima is pressuring Sony to give him 50 GB Blu-ray disks, and just recently Rockstar said they had to cut corners because of the limited space on the 360.

Sign o' things to come?

Lair will sell about as many systems as Eragon sold for the 360. That is none.

LOL.

Lets start hearing you guys put numbers out there, if your confident it'll sell systems how many units, and consoles will lair sell? In japan I'll be surprised if it sells a whole lot more then 300,000(Probably more like 250,000). Even Factor 5 making Star Wars Rebel Strike didnt' sell well in japan, I don't see this trend changing. As for consoles I think they'll go up that week but not even high enough to get half of what the Wii will sell. Gundam Musou was definitly a better app for the japanese market then Lair, and that struglled it's way to 250,000. In America it may do better, worldwide I think it would be amazing for this game to reach a million, I don't think it can do it, I'm thinking 800,000 to 900,000. Possibly a million over the entire system lifespan.

I don't think that those games will SELL SYSTEMS. The games are sure to sell to installed fan base. But NONE of the afformented games are going to prompt anyone out there who isn't already planning on getting a Ps3 already to just go and drop the money on the system and the games. I agree with all who say it is going to take a good handful of games like these and others to get gamers and not tech heads to get into the Ps3. Personally the only next gen system I have is a Wii and soon to be a 360. TAs a consumer the only game I want on Ps3 is MGS4. But that's not worth me dropping 500-600 for just that game. Now if there are massive price cuts (from the starting 59.99) to something lower (used bins etc.) on a few games out now that I would buy that would pique my interest a bit. But between trying to get an HDTV and the games coming out for the Wii that I want to purchase, it would still be around summer of next year before I took the Ps3 plunge.

Now MGS4 will sell PS3's but now it appears that it may come out on the 360 as well. http://www.deeko.com/news/?p=1448 Is Sony just giving up on the American market? Can Sony survive not being the dominant console in any market? We will find out.

Imo, these games will more than likely be good, but i doubt they will shift that many consoles. Tbh, ive seen very little hype to these games, so in my mind they probably wont shift that many PS3s, and two good games arent worthy of spending 420 quid ($840).

Are you seriously comparing Lair to Eragon? That game was a piece of licensed garbage while Lair is something else entirely.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Blue Dragon takes up 3 disks because of large amounts of anime cutscenes, MGS may use 50 gigs because they aren't compressing anything, and rockstar was talking about the 360 not having a hard drive as a requirement not the space of the DVDs.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
