They're not going to because it would be a bloody disappointment. Imagine a several second delay on actions because Link's arthritis is playing up, or he's moaning about how kids these days are spoiled by 4D gaming.

"OooOhhh, I remember when Peahats and Zoras used to ATTACK you. And that was because you didn't get many friends in them days... *snore*"

You turned Link into Cranky Kong lol.

You may have just had a SUPER-IDEA™!

I would actually approve of this as a side character, but the humour would need to be done very well to beat the poignance of "The Hero's Shade".

I guess it be a interesting idea if they linked two links into one game that way. Maybe give the new Link a different triforce piece. The center bit or something. It's different.

I imagine this as the "anti-triforce". By now it is known that 1/3 of the thing is used for evil, whereas 2/3 are in the hands of good. I like the possibility that a previously unknown central element could throw this situation into chaos. The origin of that central bit, and HOW that chaos unfolds could be pretty interesting!

I'd love to see more mature games and characters on Nintendo consoles. A more mature looking Link would be great imo.

Elucidate please

Or maybe it's just the Mature + Online experiece that sells? All those games we mentioned are great single player wise but don't have any multiplayer. Maybe Nintendo should go back to their couch multiplayer roots and make a mature game with a solid single player but a more epic multiplayer!

That is not true. God Of War III also has no multiplayer but sold 5.2 million units despite being PS3 exclusive as of March 31, 2012 (which is just about 2 years since its release).

I mean there is always an expection to the Rule, but that's what seems to be selling in the grooves right now: Mature Couch Multiplayer/Online games.

There is also the GTA series that sold tons in the past for PS consoles that most didn't have a Multiplayer mode, but I guess since it was a pioneer in it's field and the first of it's kind it developed a fan base and word of mouth help spread out sales even more...

I would love to see some games take this approach.

Mario and Kirby are clearly games NOT meant for this, but a game like metroid, with a darker atmosphere and nightmare fuel level alien designs would be fantastic. Same with Zelda, with MM and TP proving that it can be more mature occasionally.

I <3 Classic Platformers!

Multi-console Owner FTW

"The Zelda series would probably be best getting an Shadow of Colossus/Assassin's Creed treatment added with a touch of Bayonetta."

That's where you lost me. An approach like SotC would be fine, welcome even. But keep your Ass Creed as far away from my Zelda as possible. Majora's Mask is more mature than most of the M-rated so called "mature" games out there. More of that is what I want to see in my Zeldas.

Nintendo should carry on making classic games with their timeless franchises, whilst funding mature themed projects such as Bayo 2, Devils Third,Hyrule Wariors etc..variety is the spice of life.
