Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Has anyone actually used TVii for anything ever?

I recall at the Wii U's reveal there was a somewhat lengthy segment devoted to the non-gaming parts of the system, including TVii. Now that it's been two years since release, has anyone actually used the feature? I'm curious to know if I'm just missing out on something    magical    or not.

I use the remote control thing when I cant find the tvs remote but apart from that, not really

Do we, Europeans, even have such thing? :/

Nope, don't use Mii verse either I would be just as happy with it, if it had as much functions as the n64 just play games nothing more. (Now only if there were more games, yes I know they are coming but this summer was extreme drought, luckily PS4 gave me some water)

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

We aren't missing much.

At least it brings a bright colour to the UI icons, and pops up an error saying it doesn't exists.

This.

What does the TV control have to do with TVii?

Isn't that just pressing the TV button? It's the only standalone function of the gamepad that works without TVii/WiiU.

I'm lazy enough to use it whenever I'm playing the system, but...yeah. Not a lot of mileage otherwise, it appears

I used to use it all the time to chat with people watching The Walking Dead or Monday Night Raw. After Raw started sucking and TWD went away for the season, I quit using it. It was fun, though. I really looked forward to using it every week and hated missing out on the usual discussions.

I didn't know it was posting my comments on Twitter, tho. And for TWD, the group got too big as the season progressed. Give it a try. (TVii Tag)

Well it actually worked..... you can browse and control the cable box, the TV guide would be loaded on the WiiU gamepad and allow for faster switching of channel. You could see what was playing on other channel without changing the channel on the TV. It wasn't 100% accurate does not recognize which channel you subscribe or can't custom which channel you don't use on the gamepad. It was simply a novelty that did not add much. I use the gamepad to turn on or off the TV and change input. I'm assuming this feature is working everywhere including Europe.
