Axiom Verge is coming to PS4 and PS Vita early next year, then Steam later.

Former Nintendo indie boss Dan Adelman has confirmed he's working on Axiom Verge.

Adelman revealed his involvement in the upcoming title on his blog, and also confirmed it'll be a PlayStation-exclusive on console, arriving on PS4 and Vita before making its way to Steam a little while later.

We got a chance to check out Axiom Verge at E3 this year andwalked away thoroughly impressed. Heavily inspired by Metroid in terms of aesthetics, it unabashedly borrows from Nintendo's classic '80s non-linear action game. Check it out:

Last September, Nintendo banned Adelman from using Twitter because of comments he had made that criticized the 3DS's region-locking. In August this year, Adelman left Nintendo, announcing via Twitter that he had struck a deal with Nintendo that allowed him to Tweet again. Since then he's been making the most of his new-found freedom, criticising the Wii U's name, among other things.

Something something Nintendo ninjas.

If you can't fight them, join them. He never stood a chance against the Boyes/Shahid/Gio Corsi combo.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Wow, "heavily inspired" is right. The level design, the set design, weapons, and music -- all seem eerily familiar.

Still, color me interested. I love a good "Metroidvania." I'll definitely pay attention to this going forward.

No wonder this game looked cool :P

I so wish this game came to the 3DS ):
I'll be getting the PC version whenever that comes out. Maybe the Vita version too.

I just did some more reading on the game. It's worth noting that Adelman will be helping with marketing and business strategy. Tom Happ, who created the game (by himself!), deserves all the credit for game design.

Good for him, I suppose.

We'll be waiting for an actual Metroid over in Nintendoland.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

Gotta say it looks pretty interesting, and I'm not the indie game type of person. I 'm interested, but if only they included a Zero Suit looking outfit... I'd be sold yesterday.

If it's not a ripoff and just a Metroidvania game then, I', fine.

Otherwise........NO.
