Vanquish is better than both

That was pretty random.

Don't bring a Japanese game to the table in terms of competitiveness, unless it's a fighting game.

Vanquish works only in single player.

And just to inform people that never played Gears... it kicks butt in the story department too.

It's an all around GREAT TPS.

gears easily uncharted became about cut scenes and set pieces after DF

Uncharted is an adventure game first tps second. As a TPS gears is way better. The shooting mechanics in gears has so much more depth than uncharted.

As an overall game?..... That is more debatable but I personally like gears better. Uncharted 2 had a great campaign but I didn't spend literally years with it like I did with gow.

I can't deny that the game is awesome.

Mainline Gears games have averaged ~93 (three games).

Mainline Uncharted games have averaged ~92 (three games).

So whilst people are going to have their opinions, and that is fine, ultimately anyone that thinks one series is substantially better than the other in an objective sense does not hold a view that is reflective of the gaming media at large.

In my view (personally) there are a lot of strengths inherent to each series. The shooting mechanics of Gears are definitely better. Uncharted has superior platforming. Gears has better overarching lore and story telling, but Uncharted has a leg up on character development.

Ultimately just two great series!

SPLATOON!!!!!!! In seriousness, Gears of War isn't my thing, because of it attracting young males who love insulting me over Xbox Live. Uncharted has by far a better story.

Single player -> Uncharted. Gears of war 1 was good, 2 got boring halfway through. I played all 3 Uncharted's campaigns twice, didn't bother with Gears 3. Uncharted 2 was the best in the series.
I prefer a few puzzles and exploration to break up the action.
