Forums - Sales Discussion - 20th September Week (PS4 passes 11m on VGC)

So, Seece just got what he's been asking for, huh?

Great week for PS4 and XBOne! Still wondering how the 3DS is doing that well. Wii U better get its act together!

That Smash bros dropping in Japan and Fantasy life here in Europe are probably included in this boost. Said it a few times tho, people going to be put off buying a 3ds until the "new" 3ds arrives since no one wants to drop 250euros on a console that wont be able to play the big titles next year. (or apparently close to 100k do :D, but I don't get it.)

So Sony said they sold to consumers more than 10mill at Gamescom (August 9), now almost 2 months after, PS4 only sold around 1mill more with Destiny's launch???... I don't think so.

I think that by 20th september, ps4 numbers would be more around 11'5-12m than 11m....and i won't be surprised if in the first week of October PS4 surpass 12 mill....

Big, big drop offs for the PS4 but still in the lead and with lots of wiggle room. Xb1 is holding good and the wii U is getting beaten by the PS3...

im just suggesting, that the great ps4 start in tier 2/3 countries slowed down.

so ps4 ist still selling more than 50% of its units in countries, that are not us, uk and japan. that seems reasonable for launch. but for the whole time of the gen?

last gen ps3 sold 50% in us+uk and japan but was very weak in the us and uk

this gen ps4 sold less than 50% in us+uk+japan, while being the #1 console in that countries

thats my point. hard to belive

You have got great data, but I thnk you are interpreting it wrong.

as you said, last gen PS3 sold 50% in US+UK+Jap but was weak in US nd UK compared to the 360, but still somehow won the gen.

This gen, PS$ is selling less than 50% in US+UK+jap....

What you are missing is that this simply all means that the rest of the world and other EU territories are adopting the PS4 faster than they did last gen and their markets could even be bigger overall than they were last gen (this remains to be seen). But it definately doesn't indicate any slowing down since the EU has so far been the strongest region for the PS4.

As for US+UK, the PS4 really only needs to sell exactly the same with teh XB1 in those regions cause last gen the 360 dominated those regions. If the PS4 manages to sell exactly the same with the XB1 there this gen while taking EU+ROW+Japan, then it would end up winning this gen by a landslide. So far, the PS4 has been outselling the XB1 in the ONLY two regions that it has a chance of beating the PS4.

Don't see what is hard to believe about any of this.

What's with the Wii U bump? Bayonetta 2 only did a 1k bump in Japan,

Hyrule Warriors in europe. but I cannot believe that bumped the WiiU by 5K in that region.

EDIT: Will be interesting to see the sales of the game in europe. May be the first Warriors game to sell more in europe than in Japan.

Just looking forward to seeing how far VGC is off next time Sony gives out numbers.

Not surprising, VGC will easily be off by 1 million+ come the next announcment, then they'll beat around the bush for a few weejs before adjusting up (but of course, not completely up).

As for the PS4, seems obviously undertracked. I just don't get why this is such an issue with, seemingly, just PS systems. The XB is never undertracked, if anything, it's often overtracked

Wow, Destiny went down by a lot in US! I wonder how long it will be able to keep in charts when other big PS4 and Xbox One games will launch.

The UK-software-numbers are available. 15K for Hyrule Warriors. Not bad. If we extrapolate it points towards around 75K of the game for whole europe. That would indeed mean, this is the first Warriors selling better in europe than in Japan.

UK Data:

PlatformWeekly (change)Total
PS4 12,407 (-64%) 1,064,765
XOne 8,795 (-46%) 686,247

Okay so you guys see the problem with these numbers?

Article stated that Xbox One was up 155% so next week would be 22,400 units for Xbox One

Article also stated that PS4 was up 88% so next week would be  23,300 units for PS4.

Article stated that Xbox One was on top.

There are several different possibilities here.  The PS4 could be overtracked by a few dozen units.  The Xbox One could be undertracked by a few dozen units.  Or, they weren't kidding when they said the Xbox One just "edged out" the PS4.  Look like next week they will be in a statistical dead heat.
