Forums - Sales Discussion - does still some1 deny the "x360 owner are more satisfied and ps3 owners shift faster to curren gen" fact?

It's easy to be satisfied with what you got if the successor isn't marginally better ;)

* at least in the uk?

after i posted several pattern with software YOY decline numbers (from neogaf) for ps3 and x360, many guys here told this was all just about the last of us software from 2013. and tried to spin as hard, as they could.

no we finally got fifa 15 numbers and beside cod, this is the biggest multiplat game.

lets have a look:

FIFA 14 (ELECTRONIC ARTS) - 836,000 / NEW

Xbox 360 (61%) - 509,960
PlayStation 3 (38%) - 317,680

FIFA 15 (ELECTRONIC ARTS) - 961,000 / NEW

PlayStation 4 (32%) - 307,520
Xbox 360 (30%) - 288,300  --> 43,5% YoY decline. === 221660 decline
Xbox One (22%) - 211,420
PlayStation 3 (15%) - 144,150 --> 54,5% YoY decline === 173530 decline

Percentage is one thing to look at, but what are those numbers exactly?

Only thing we can get out of this, like someone else said is that Xbox lost marketshare.

Decline was greater than Xbox One's increase.

yes. i dont deny that

if we talk about platform it doenst look good for ms.

but as long as many 360 user didnt shift already, there is still a chance to get momentum back.

but if the breakdown of the latest 360 mover to ps4 and xb1 will be the same like today, ms lost the uk.

they have to turn the tide on that guys.

sony won the ps3 audience and a bigger part of the early 360 mover audience.

ms needs the (still very big) remaining 360 audience.

Fifa 14:

xbox family: 509,960
playstation family: 317,680

Fifa 15:

xbox family: 499,720
playstation family: 451,670

xbox family:   -2%
playstation family: +42%

i see what you're saying,.. the xbox hardcore is sticking with 360 because no one wants an xbox.  that playstation growth is coming from the disenfranchised xbox owners that gave up on MS years ago after those massive droughts of software support in 2012 and 2013.  ms's terrible late gen support really killed xbox.

thanks for bring this to everyone's attention!

Or maybe 360 owners see less of a reason to upgrade to an X1 since there haven't really been any great games that justify the purchase of one.

but they upgraded to ps4, because of the great libary of games?

it doenst matter to what current gen console the last gen owner moved (or dont yet)

there is just the fact, that relatively more of the ps3 owner moved already compared to the xb360 ones...

but yeah it was sure, that this thread is full of  x1 is to bad, so 360 user didnt move talk.

no1 would ever say 360 was (and still is) just a great console...

Your post is one sided and hypocritical. You are complaining people are saying x1 is not desireable,. yet are inferring ps3 was not a good console thus people were unhappier with it thus upgraded faster...it works both ways....All your post shows is how biased this spin is, and that x1 is losing any gains it had last gen

Or the PS4 is more appealing to PS3 owners than the X1 is to 360 owners, so more people on the Xbox side are waiting to make a decision. You can spin these things any way you please.

sure. that can be true

i just talk about the "more x360 owner jumped to ps4, than ps3 owers jumped to ps4" nonsense.

there is zero evidence out, that confirm this...

As one game launch in one country somehow sets a precedent right? Doesn't the 360 have a 3 Million lead in the U.K.? X1 owners like to talk about install base and attach ratio.

Well while I like you provided some data I also must say that I don't agree with you. Your data just dhows percentage drops and increases. There is no possible way to prove that what you said is a "fact" it can be an out come but your data can lead to many different out comes. Not just the one you "feel" is a fact. It is an opinion and there is nothing wrong with having one either.

But to state that it is a fact is just wrong and I think that is why you are getting a lot of the replies you are getting that's all. The title is the main issue IMO. Change that to what you are claiming which is more PS3 owners have bought a PS4 than XB360 owners. Not that more people are "dissatisfied with the PS3 than the 360" which is kind of silly really since it can't actually be proved especially with this data. And just say this is your opinion and not a "fact" and you will be good to go!

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

PSN: StlUzumaki23

That mean people are not interested by Xbox one so they buy games for their Xbox360

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Its just as likely that they are about equal. Lest we forget that a huge portion of PS4 owners also owned a Xbox 360. You can't assume that all Xbox One owners had a Xbox 360 either. Other evidence points towards current global PS3 sales vs Xbox 360. Why are they so skewed. I personally purchased a PS4 BECAUSE I was so satisfied with my PS3.

Even more likely, the PS4 is probably just a more attractive product than the Xbox One. Is that really hard to believe?

Simple really. PS3 owners tired of inferior multiplats have every reason to jump over to PS4 as that trend isn't stopping any time soon. The same can't be said for 360 owners...

NObody in the thread agreed with you. And, based on your English writing skill I am not even sure you know what the word fact actually means. *rolls eyes*

i know.

none is talking about the topic titel. just the usual bullshit "because xb1 is a bad console" and "more moved to ps4, this isn't good for ms in any way" talk

welcome to the internet

and yeah, english isnt my native language. dare me im not using it in a perfect way

here is one more fact: my topic generate so much hate by just giving some actual sales figures...

this is totally on me. for sure

I apologise on behalf of all tolerant native english speakers for the prejudicial nature of the previous post. I for one appreciate the effort non-native speakers make in contributing to this forum, so please continue, though try to make threads that draw valid conclusions.

Which brings me to the topic. While it may be true that 360 owners are joining the new gen at a slower pace, it is also true that the absolute decline in Fifa sales on 360 is more than the absolute decline in Ps3 sales: 221k decline for 360, 171k decline for PS3. So the rate of change might be more on PS3, but the numerical change is higher on 360. If Fifa sales is a true measure of conversion it means more 360 owners have converted than PS3 owners. To make it simple, if one PS3 owner joins the new gen, that represents 0.x% of the PS3's user base. If one 360 owner joins the new gen that represents 0.y% of 360's user base. It is the same number of people converting (1), but x>y as a % of the respective install bases.

If the rate of conversion remains the same then all PS3 owners will convert before all 360 owners, but more 360 owners will have converted than the entire PS3 user base. So the conclusion that 360 owners are not converting to the new gen in big numbers is not valid. It is only that there is a much bigger user base to convert from so it will take longer to work through that user base.

Of course all this is predicated on the launch sales of one game, which is a very poor statistical measure to work from.
