Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you think the remaining Wii userbase will finally goto the Wii U this holiday?

Will they *ever* get a Wii U?

Yes -- most obvious choice 46 32.86%

No -- PS3/Xbox 360 will interest them more 3 2.14%

No -- PS4/Xbox One will interest them more 26 18.57%

No -- new gaming needs ar... 8 5.71%

No -- mobile tablet master race 57 40.71%

Total:140

90 million Wii U's sold this fall? No.

I think it will do well though, with MK8 and 3DW bundles at $299, Amiibo, and Smash releasing.

I highly doubt that will happen.. :/

Get the price down by $50 (perfect for if the basic unit isn't phased out yet) and include Nintendoland and Wii Sports Club. That would help somewhat.

No most people who bought a wii, bought it becouse of the hype and the popularity of the device, those people are more likely to move towards the awful, )how dare you call it master' tablet and phone race.
Perhaps some will buy a PS4/Xone and a few will consider buying a U.
If Nintendo wants to achieve anything this gen the better promote smash and Zelda real good, so Xone/PS4 owners will consider a U as a secondary console.

We're talking about laggards though. Folks who likely bought the Wii back in 2010 and onwards - not in the early prime years of Wii's lifecycle (2006-2009). For whatever reason, they stuck with one console -- the Wii and have continued to buy games for it until now.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

No. We're talking about 1-4 million households that bought the Wii versions of Skylanders, Disney Infinity, and Just Dance as well as other Wii games within the last year or two.

It's obvious the other 90ish million have moved onto something else -- I'm specifically identifying a specific segment of the game buyers that I think is radically different from the rest of the gaming community.

nope, the ps4 is the true casual console now

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Most of the people buying Just Dance and Skylanders for Wii are little kids. They're not moving on to the WiiU, they're going straight to smartphones.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

It should sell well this holiday season but I doubt all of them will go for it. I m sure some are still waiting for zelda

Sadly, I'm not sure if this kind of demographic cares about a new Zelda or not. These are people who buying the Wii versions of multiplat releases -- in 2012 and onwards. Think families with children ages 4 - 12 years old. And among all their platform choices -- they've largely chosen one, and they've chosen the cheap one. But it also still happens to be Nintendo.

I think the crowd waiting for Zelda that doesn't have a Wii U has another console or PC they've been buying multi-plat games for over the last several years.
