What Hamas says and what Hamas does are two different things. Radical statements bely a fairly rational group with some very radical elements within their ranks (especially a militia arm responsible for most of the rogue rocket launches).

They are as legitimate a governing authority as Israel, at least in the strictest sense, and their views are to be recognized.

The alternative is integrating Palestinians under Israeli law as Israeli citizens, but Israel has a strong racist streak amongst segments of the Jewish population that sees that as destruction by different means.

Oh, so Hamas can hide behind that the hundreds of crazies committing violent acts in their group are just a few radicals, and all the others just SAY crazy things.  So, why doesn't Hamas no longer include them within their group, kick them out, or try to stop them?  And who keeps supplying them with all these rockets and launchers?  I just love how people come up with all of these excuses for Islam extremist groups, even their crazy actions, but would completely flip their shit if a large group within America or Israel even said anything even implying something negative about all Muslims.  I think Bill Maher, a man I usually disagree with, says it best:
