I'd like to see this happen. But will it really? Probably not.

Nah, I dont think it will happen cause sure, SSB is being released during the holiday but that doesn't mean that people can't buy MK8 and on top of that, we do have that MK8 DLC coming this november that soo many people are hyped about and it should boost sales of MK8 to those that bought a wiiU so nah, I just can't see it happening loll
If you said both 3ds + wiiU, I can see that though
PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850
1)3DS version will hurt Wii U version sales of SSB
2)MK8 gave you a couple of months to get a free retail game along with it. People like myself who weren't planning to get MK8 so early jumped in for the 2-for-1 deal. SSB doesn't offer the same deal.
3)Mario Kart has always had wider appeal. It will also be just as available and just as promoted this holiday season.
4) SSB will face more competition from other games around its release date.
bubblegamer said: I'm gonna say no. MK has always been a bigger franchise. |
i agree.... esp with the 3ds damage....
probably the initial numbers of ssb can frog leap mk's first month but mk's legs is like daddy long legs
i dont agree.
plus i am bias as far as i love mario kart and dont give much of a shit about ssb.
Mario Kart has always appealed to a larger audience than Smash Bros., there's no way Smash will outsell MK8. The only time Smash Bros. outsold Mario Kart was in GameCube, but just barely, and it had a huge head start too. The amount of fans from Mario Kart greatly outnumber the Smash Bros. fans, it doesn't matter how "hardcore" Smash fans are, they are outnumbered.
I'm going to play Devil's Advocate and say Smash will sell better than Mario Kart 8, figuring it's going to come out on the Holiday rush, plus hype (more than EVER) is a bigger factor than in past times. Also, Smash is being labelled the Savior of the Wii U (Overhyped, but w/e). Smash will also bring an old Audience from the Wii days back to Nintendo, while people who got Mario Kart 8 were mostly Wii U owners in the first place. All facts lead to it being a bigger success now, despite what history has showed us otherwise.
no, not gonna happen
Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
Possible, but not likely.
If it does outsell MK8, I'll be really happy.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
