And it being a joint release with the successor also wouldn't surprise me. To people saying when they show gameplay footage they're nearly done, look at Twilight Princess. That looked finished at E3 2004 and didn't show up til 2 years later repositioned as a launch title for the successing system as well as it's target format.
Either way, I'd rather they got it right, than rushed it because "Wii U needs it".
