Right, but we expect developers to better optimize the engines they're working with.

In some cases we've seen MS helping studios to better optimize their games for X1 hardware.

No. People like you expect the XBO versions to run as well as the PS4 versions, despite the console being definitely weaker. And you base your expectations on the few games that do manage to come close to achieve parity with the PS4 versions. Failing to acknoledge the different technical demands of each games.

No, I don't expect parity.

Yes, I do expect something close to parity given other developers are achieving it. Even if its a lower resolution.

You fail to acknowledge developers are learning to work with the X1 hardware. Knowing MS has helped studios better optimize their games for the hardware.

I just don't get it.  Anyone with even an iota of hardware understanding can planely see that the PS4 is flat out substantially more powerful.  Double the bandwidth and 50% more GPU processing power.  THAT IS WHAT MATTERS.  If you average those things out you find a 75% lead.  GET OVER IT.

75% lol

it is around 35-40

Wow, now its 75%?

Okay buddy, simmer down.

Dude I have been saying the PS4 is double the power since launch.  Look it up.

Yeah, it was bullshit back then as well.

I don't know I am sitting here looking at 1080p vs 720p.  That is over double.  The gap is bigger than you think.  Sticky this post if you want to.  Two years from now the PS4 and Xbox One will have graphics that are mountains apart.

Destiny didn't have that disparity. :-p

Anyhow, I'm not gonna say you're wrong. But I feel like you're wrong... so lets just wait and see.

The difference will become more obvious down the line, I'm quite sure. But it won't be anymore than 40-50%. That's what the specs indicate, and that's what the games so far indicate as well.

I don't get why people post and say "no way am i supporting this lazy dev".

Then why in the first place did you support a lazy console maker than sold you weaker hardware for an increased price?

They could have made the thing developer friendly, but they were more interested in taking over your media space and the casual crowd with Kinnect. Give the developers a break. If they made a console as good as the PS4 you'd be getting games as good as the PS4 versions.

Game runs good on my ps4, nice and smooth.

Destiny was made with parity in mind. Definitely not a useful example in regards to system differences.

Its also a great looking game that achieves 1080p with a solid frame rate. Even during scenes with lots of action.

Putting spin aside, its a well optimized game. Not what I expected from the Xbox 720p.

No, the resolution disparity wasn't as significant.

It was 1080p during gameplay, 900p during cutscens and generally locked at 30 fps. PS4 version was 1080p and achieved 60 fps with dips into 40s during action.

So 720p/30fps is considerably worse.

That's incredibly close.  Oh and 1080p cutscenes lol?!  Big accomplishment there!

Still not as significant as 720p/30fps. Simple as that.

Also, Tomb Raider Definitive was using the old X1 code. While this game should be taking advantage of the performance improvments.

No matter how much you spin, PS4 has a significant performance advantage over X1. PS4 has room to grow as well. No amount of software is going to close the gap. A more powerful machine is just that, a more powerful machine.

You think Tomb Raider DE maxed out PS4? Also, please stop using Destiny as an example of parity. The game is far from showing what current gen consoles are capable of as last gen console versions of the game isn't far off. It's like using a cross gen 2007 multiplat as an example of what PS3 and 360 could do.

I didn't imply any of that. Its funny how people like to ignore great looking games that achieved parity. I guess that complicates your narrative.

By the way, Call of Duty 3 was a great example of how much better a cross gen game could look on 360 or PS3. We even saw a huge disparity in multiplat PS360 and Wii games.

Hence, I don't subscribe to the theory last gen holds back next gen. It just depends on what hardware the game was designed for. Next gen games can be scaled back for inferior hardware. BF4 looks fantastic on high end PC specs, but was also scaled back for 7th gen consoles.
