Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which Company Do You See Leaving the Console Business First?

so?

Microsoft 452 77.26%

Nintendo 54 9.23%

Sony 79 13.50%

Total:585

First and foremost, this is not made to start a console war discussion or hatred towards any of these companies. If you do not have a respectful thing to say about any of these companies then just do not post anything. Oh and please explain why.

This is a response to what the so called "analyst" Michael Pachter said in an interview. If you have not seen it, he basically said that there probably will not be a 9th gen of consoles and that Nintendo needs to pull the plug on the Wii U, so just the usual.

IMO, I dont wnat any of these companies to leave because they prevent other companies to making horrible decisions, but the one I see leaving before the others is probably Microsoft. Why? Because they arent making much money off of the XB division. Plain and simple.

Microsoft first, Nintendo second, Sony last

Microsoft cause they are more focused on Windows/Enterprise solutions then console hardware imo followed by Sony cause they have been talking about PS as a service rather than a dedicated gaming console and lastly Nintendo cause its really, their only business and they are successful at it! Sure, they goof every now and then but they will continue to chug along with hits and misses. They brought the industry back from the dead and they will be there till the end

Please give an explanation otherwise I cant see why.

1.Sony - their spiral down just doesn't get better. And I lost hope.

2.Nintendo - Because modern culture and 3rd parties don't do well on the consoles, so it's much much harder for Nintendo to compete. Also, they are expanding into new businesses and handhelds are dying.(thanks.... casual phones :/)

3. Microsoft - Too much $$$$.

Companies I would like to join the console race when one goes down/destroys 1 very very quickly :
1.Samusng. 2. Google. 3. Sega comeback.

MS: investors might wanna spin the division off if it loses money/marketshare, MS might quit the business

Nintendo: Wii U is bombing hard, if their next console bombs too they might quit the console bizniz and go handheld only

Sony: will be the last to stay thanks to healthy worldwide market and not being dependent on 1 or 2 countries. Also PS Now=future

Microsoft is most likely cause they're closest to PC.  But I'll just say I don't think they'd do that cause if they made their own PC service to rival steam I think they know their 3rd party sales would plummet, people would only go to Microsoft's service for exclusives and steam for everything else.  Ofc they could just release their games on steam, but I don't think hey wanna give up % of each game sold to valve.  So anyway I think Micrsoft is most likely, but I don't think they will.

1. Microsoft because it seems like investors are finding any excuse to dump the Xbox.
2. Sony, though PS will probably be their last profitable brand.
3. Nintendo, because gaming is their only business.

Seriously though, right now I don't see anyone really leaving. Nintendo leaving would mean the end of Nintendo, and I doubt they would go out without a very long fight. Even if they went third party, it would still be the end of Nintendo as we know it, and I think it would have a terrible effect on their games output.

Microsoft would suffer the least if they chose to do so, but I still don't see them really exiting, but rather rethinking their gaming strategy. They would be missed.

Sony, well, it all depends on Sony corp. Going along as they're doing now, their gaming division looks very very stable.

MS as we have heard several times that a significant amount of shareholders and higher ups want to ditch Xbox.

Even if Sony's situation worsens considerably, I am pretty confident that Playstation will survive regardless of their fortune, because especially with the PS4's success, multiple companies would attempt to purchase the division. Whether that would be good in the long run I don't know
