US isn't the main market for racing games though. Its Europe which would really help it to sell.

Ah, I didn't know that. Sounds about right though. Here in the U.S. we just play Mario Kart for the most part :P

Well yeah that's quite apparent from the sales.

Wonder if this European love for arcade racers has to do with most big manufacturers being European.

I feel that anything below 2 million units sold would be a commercial failure for this game, it had a long, bumpy dev time, looks like a game with pretty high production values. It definitely wasn't cheap to make.

I hope it sells that, cause if it will flop, I think Sony won't give them another chance after Apocalypse and this and will simply shut them down. If they can't cooperate with Polyphony, not to cannibalise each others racing game series like it was originally planned to in 2013, two racing studios would be overkill anyway, this genre seen better days.

Apocalypse and RC were released in 2011 and 2012 respectively. In no way has DC had a long dev time, and we know Evolution's a fairly small studio. Thinking 2m is necessary to be profitable is kind of ridiculous.

Lol no. I'm not even sure if you're serious or damage control if DriveClub flops, and it has a good chance to.

From the Ubisoft financial report we know that their normal retail games are averaging around 10% digital on PS4 and Xbone iirc.
With all the incentives DriveClub, I can see it doing maybe 25-30% digital.

Wow didn't know it was so low, and people think phyical media is going away soon...OT I don't think its even gonna break 50%.

There is also Europe to consider though. Racing games tend to do very well in Europe and the PS4 really is dominating there. I'm pretty sure there are some European trackers as well, so even if the US sales aren't great Sony Europe may announce their figures so maybe we could at least see the difference in Europe.

Very true, just by being on PS4 it stands a great chance of doing fantasticly in Europe. I didn't know they liked racing games so much over there, though. That explains a lot, now that I think about it. Guess it'll do fine. We'll just have to wait and see what gets announced then. Regardless, I'm thinking 60% sounds like a reasonable high. 80% would be approaching PC levels of digital dominance, so I just don't see it happening.

That's a good point, but I'd say, looking at the preorder numbers in U.S., it'll barely break 100k in physical

Where are you getting that number? VGC US preorders have it at around 100k, which would put it at well over 100k in the first week alone.

Well, that is Ubisoft. It depends on the pricepoint of each game and the system. I think it is more around 20% for most reasonably priced retail games.

The price of Ubisoft games drop quickly at retail, but not as quickly on PS Store.

No games drop in price fast on the PS Store though...

That's probably a reason why games don't sell much digitally. Not a problem with Driveclub.

Only if the full digital version is free for PS plus... btw, i will be getting retail version cause i wanna trade-in some of my PS3 games...
