Forums - Politics Discussion - Americans and especially the SJW should watch this.

I agree and disagree. Intolerance, victimisation and bigotry should be criticised and acted against whenever and wherever it raises its ugly head. The big problems should be prioritised, and people need a sense of perspective, but that doesn't mean giving the little problems a free pass.

Using faggot as a pejorative is not OK, and just because there is female genital mutilation practiced in parts of the Muslim world does not mean we should be dismissive of legitimate criticism when a celebrity uses the term in this way. And does not mean the guy shouldn't apologise. We are capable of social justice multitasking.

Bill Mahr is pretty hit or miss for me, and I have to disagree with him here. Our culture is better because we demand better. Those are different countries with different laws and cultures. It's not okay to treat people badly here just because they treat them worse somewhere else.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Aren't there bigger problems in the world than some twat putting his dick in jesus' mouth?

Unless it was a metaphor of how we are treating our fellow man nowadays, disregarding all the things that jesus stood for. If that's the case, this kid is deep.

What matters is that we're hardly in a position to tell other cultures they should be more open-minded about sexuality when same-sex marriage isn't legal in all 50 states.

Trying to get all 50 states to agree on one thing is more difficult than it seems. Especially when some go out of their way to make it more complex than it needs to be.

And this is why you don't leave something so important up to the states.

I just mean, imagine you were a gay American living in Missouri or some other state in which same-sex marriage is banned. And you see our President or Secretary of State or anybody on the news saying that this or that other country is persecuting homosexuals and they need to be more tolerant. Wouldn't you feel like somebody got their priorities mixed up? I think I'd be pretty angry.

Theres a big differnce between not legalizing gay marriage and murdering homosexuals...I think you can condemn one without condoning the other

There is a big difference, but as I said, if it were me I would be angry. At its core, you are telling a country to stop discriminating against a group of people, while the laws of your own country are still discriminatory towards that same group. The other country may be killing them, but your own country is denying them the same rights as other groups.

Not trying to turn this into a same-sex marriage debate, just using it as an example. It would bother me. I certainly don't think we should just look away while other countries are committing atrocities, if anything I simply want our country to practice what it preaches.

I dont get it. As time is passing respect is vanishing from our society. Why people do this?

What society?

Society in general. Its not in my country but worldwide. People have no respect for others.

I have no respect for people that think of women or homosexuals or people of different faith (and so on..) as lesser humans.

I do have respect for people that believe in equality, human rights and value the physical and psychological well being of others just as highly as their own.

People do stuff with statues all the time...just google it. He just thought it was funny, I doubt it was even a religious statement.

Off-topic, I know, but this is my all-time favorite:

Just LOLED.

Haha, religious people are so easily offended. "oh em gee he made a crude gesture with a statue, he must be possessed by SATAN, we should lock him up!"

Sometimes I wonder what it's like to be so far removed from reality to posit such absolute nonsense and then I remember I actually ENJOY being sane.

You don't think the U.S. is in a position to tell other countries to stop killing and jailing homosexuals because some states don't legally recognize gay marrige? (It's extralegal, not illegal nor "banned".) Should we also not encourage other countries to stop cutting off the hands of thieves because we put thieves in prison, too? Are we hypocrites for thinking girls should be able to go to school when we have a (largely mythical) 23 cent/hour wage cap ourselves?

That sounds like a serious lack of perspective on your part.
