As you all know, Playstation Home will be closing it's doors on the 31st of March. Does anybody remember back when PS Home was first revealed and how much of a game changer it looked to be? We were given a new way to interact with fellow gamers via a gaming hub OUTSIDE of the actual games. Home looked to be a BIG deal but the real question now that the 7th gen is wrapping up, was it a success or failure?

I personally think Playstation Home was a failure. Like i said in a previous thread of mine, I feel like PSHome was GRAND idea executed by a mind unfit for the task of bringing this GRAND idea to life as it should have been. So basically, Home is just a big ass pile of potential that Sony just sat on. They didn't know what the fuck they needed to do to bring that ambitious project to life as it was supposed to be. I'm not sure if it's more of the fact that Home was simply just too ambitious for it's time or the fact that Sony didn't have the right mastermind behind the project.

For the sake of comparing, let's look at Sony's Playstation Home vs Nintendo's Mii Verse. Playstation Home was a hell of a lot more ambitious than Miiverse. Looking at them both on paper, you would've thought that Playstation Home would blow Miiverse out of the water. To be honest, during my time of owning a Playstation 3 and Wii U, I have to admit that I've visited Mii Verse WAAAAAAYYYY more times than I've visited Playstation Home. That's not to say that i visit Miiverse everytime i turn the Wii U on or anything. I've also had the PS3 a lot longer than the Wii U. I've only visited PS Home like twice or maybe 3 times tops. Miiverse is like a simplified PS Home but it's not perfect.

In Playstation Home, you were able to purchase things but you had to do it with real money.. AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT! The perfect solution for Playstation Home to have succeeded was to use TROPHIES! Make trophies the main currency in PS Home, that way people would actually have a reason to visit and do something in Home more often. That would've been the PERFECT reward for gaining trophies. What do trophies do right now? Not a damn thing! They're nice and add a bit of replay value to games but they still dont do anything. This would've been the PERFECT opportunity to give Trophies more of a purpose while bringing more relevance to PS Home. This alone would've EASILY made me visit Home a lot more than I did. PS Home will be gone for good soon so It's too late. I would still love for a Playstation-verse on PS4 like Miiverse(which is basically a simplified Nintendo-Home like Playstation Home) though.

It would be nice to get on Playstation Underground(or whatever the hell it would be called) and be able to visit and discuss various things among other Playstation users in the differing communities. Like I said in a previous thread, if PS3 had a Miiverse, I would STILL visit the Uncharted 2 community TO THIS DAY( and no I'm not trying to overhype Uncharted 2. So you "Uncharted-is-mediocre-and-overrated" police can gtfo!)

So do you think Home was a success or failure? Do you agree with my opinion of the matter or disagree?

Also, for my fellow Playstation fans, how often did you visit Home? DON'T LIE!

Home would be awesome if it was Yakuza without combat.

I only entered PS Home once for that event where you could win some old free games.

Personally I never saw the point in it. It's good to see it's finally gone.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

as i said in the other topic, im surprised it lasted this long.

Also as you just said:

"For the sake of comparing, let's look at Sony's Playstation Home vs Nintendo's Mii Verse. Playstation Home was a hell of a lot more ambitious than Miiverse. Looking at them both on paper, you would've thought that Playstation Home would blow Miiverse out of the water."

"Miiverse is like a simplified PS Home but it's not perfect."

this games are about the social aspect, and simplifying them is at least for me the best way of doing it, the thing that i didnt like about home was the amount of loading screens and areas that you would have to go throught just to get to an event or just to watch a trailer...

Miiverse being more simple is actually a PLUS, at least for me.

Also your idea of using trophies as currency is awesome, and it would have changed HOME in a BIG way, just imagine people showing of their homes, and characters with all of the expensive stuff that they would have gotten from their trophies, it would be awesome, and it would also encourage some people to get more trophies. and therefore play more games

Your trophy idea is actually pretty good idea but that would cut Sony away from money (except people buying and playing games for more trophies). I feel sorry (actually I want to laugh at) for anyone that bought anything for Home considering that within a year it will be gone.

My experience with Playstation Home?  I believe I tried to download it on my friends PS3 and it never got done downloading.

I'm still confused as to what the whole purpose of home was. It seems like a ridiculously convoluted way to interact with other fans.

The purpose was to have guys make female characters to lure all the horny sick fucks that populated Home.

Just pointless... God, i remember some 16 year old girl having date with 45 year old man. That was sick social network back then. Not even funny.

I downloaded it once. Turned it on and saw bootleg sims a like. Never went back. I was like why isn't it just a chat room? It was more worse because nothing could be launched with home active in anyway. You couldn't got in and out on the fly. If it was on PS4. it would work better since the system can suspend and deal with all the multitasking. But PS3 was way too early for it.

I dunno about it being a failure or success but I feel it was a ridiculous waste of money and resources. Everything they did on PS home PS+ did better, and community, they should have just invested in a proper PS forum or something.

And the resources, damn.... I hated PS Home about 10% more every time the PS3 got just another stability update. They could have put that whole team behind building and improving the PS OS. At least their efforts would have touched every single owner of the console.
