Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Convince me to buy Hyrule Warriors

Because you like mindlessly mashing buttons. Or because you're really into those animes where one guy mows down thousands of enemies in seconds, because that's fun and interesting right?

If you've never played a dynasty warriors game before you'll be happy with your first one... after a few dozen of them... and some Gundam ones they really don't offer much difference in the games. I'd say if its your first and you love Zelda you'll have a great time with it.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Very simple, convince me to buy Hyrule Warriors. Two things you need to know:

  • I'm a hardcore Zelda fanboy
  • Never played a Dynasty Warriors game in my life
Go ahead

Those are the two main reasons why you should buy the game...

As for the brainless enemies, that only holds true for the lowest minions. They are there to convey the sense of a huge battle going on, but you aren't supposed to fight them. They will respawn over and over as long as their commander is alive, so that's the enemy you have to fight; and that one has actual attack patterns that you have to dodge and avoid. The challenge comes from taking out these higher ranked soldiers while keeping an eye on the battlefield and strategically supporting your own troops. Later levels also confront you with several proper enemies at once, so the combat gets more difficult. Adventure mode also doesn't shy away from letting you fight two to three bosses at once; throw in a ranking system that urges you to lose only a few hearts during the whole battle and you will have your hands full.

With 13 playable characters, an 8-10 hour long campaign and 128 missions in adventure mode, you are also looking at a game that will take a long time to complete. When it comes to repetition, anyone who is able to cope with Monster Hunter will have no problem with Hyrule Warriors, because there are more maps and more varied objectives, plus a material/money/weapon/upgrade/EXP system that is well thought out.

I was never afraid of the game being repetitive, as a 'hardcore' Monster Hunter fan I don't mind killing the same enemies over and over. The difference is that in MH the monster are quite challenging (some even if you fought the monster dozens of times before) so it was never boring for me.

Short: Because it's fun.

Long: The points you describe are the same for me. Hyrule Warriors was my first Warriors-game. And it's actually a lot of fun. The braindead enemies are irrelevant, because the main thing in the game isn't hack'n'slay. You can take out thousands of enemies and still lose. Often I ignore these normal enemies completely and just run to the next point I'm needed. And that's the point here: it is more real-time strategy. You have to decide fast, which enemy commanders to take out, which keeps to conquer and so on. Often the level throws multiple objectives at you: the main stuff you should do, some sidestuff another character asks, calls for help from your commanders and many fortresses to conquer. Taking the right decisions decide about you winning or losing. And if you start mowing down thousands of brainless enemies, do it fast as you don't have time for it (in harder levels, in the beginning it isn't that difficult).

The game itself has OK quality, I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece, but as it gives you fun while playing it is worth it's money.

Exactly the same here. And I adore it. It's awesome. Get it.

I'll do it, too!

When this game was announced, I hated the concept.  Now, I'm like "Who am I kidding?".  I'm gonna buy it in a few mins and maybe play some co op this weekend.  I don't have the highest of expectations but I don't think I'll regret the purchase.
