Bungie promised a super ambitious game with a lot of content. Nobody expected to get the full experience of Destiny from the beta, but it turns out we kinda did.

It is super ambitious with a lot of content... the Beta by itself was a full game.

And they promised 4 planets like the Beta lol.

Did you expected the final game be different from Beta?

Bungie Dev 1: We created a beta to people play and know how is our game.
Bungie Dev 2: Now the Beta is done we can start a new game for the final product.

lol

What's ambitous about Destiny? The tedious areas to explore with the same enemies constantly respawning or the gunplay virually ripped from their past games?

Telling people there are four planets to explore always sounds more ambitious than four maps. For the genre its slim on content.

In one of the ViDocs the creators said they wanted to create a game we would play for a 100 hours. That leads you to believe it has a lot of content, not the expectation of doing the same tedious crap.

When I played a game like Skyrim for a 100 hours its because there was so much to explore in that world and so much story. I wasn't doing the same missions over and over to level up my equpiment.

Bungie should have made a trailer saying, "Don't expect much more than the beta shows. Also, all the talk we did about story is virtually non existant in the final product. Enjoy!"

Yet it got oversold by Destiny at PS4 in just a week.
All the hyperbolics you came across means nothing compared to actual numbers, I came across a lot of those both to TF and Destiny too.
Destiny at PS4 was way more hyped than Titanfall at XBO, and there's already data to prove it.
Numbers always show us the truth.

Hype <> sales

You can have a super hyped game and it didn't have good sales.

I agree.  Excellent example is Beyond Two Souls.  This was hyped up a lot and didn't sell well.

Even The Last of Us would be a good game to point out.  It was hyped up, received a 90+ Metascore, and praised as one of the greatest games of all time.  It also released when the PS3 had 80 million sales.  Less than 1.5m week one.  People could argue that everyone was waiting for the PS4 version, but with week one PS3 sales and the entirety of PS4 sales, it's still less than Destiny's sales on the PS4 only.

Again, Destiny was hyped as a much more ambtious project than Halo inparticular.

Nobody expecte to get the full experience from the beta. There was belief the final product offered more than the beta.

Proof?

Go watch the trailers and vidocs.

Its fair to expect more than a dull co-op shooter. That's why it sold so well.

At least Destiny had a good reason to be hyped unlike Titanfall which was developed by a newly formed studio.

But Titanfall was pretty straightforward about what it was, a PvP game. They felt the primary reason people played CoD was for PvP so they focused on that. Also, being a PvP only experience pushed a lot of people away.

Destiny lead us to believe they were creating an interesting world to explore and a deep story. We now know that was bullshit. I give Bungie kudos on a decent co-op shooter, but it didn't live up to the hype.

There's never been a beta that hasn't turned out to be the same game as the final product.  Even Final Fantasy 14 which is now A Realm Reborn was released as the exact same game as the beta.  The game bombed so they completely reworked the game into Final Fantasy 14 A Realm Reborn and released it three years later.

Betas are nothing more than the near finished product prior to to release.  Usually released for online games in order to gauge interest and find how much server size would be needed, but also to sell the game, find bugs before the games retail release, etc.

*edit*

When you played the Titanfall beta did you expect the game was going to turn out different?  Rhetorical question btw.  No need to answer.

But the problem with Destiny is the final game is too much like the beta!

We didn't get the ambitious project they promised. We got the beta with a few more areas to explore, more tedious missions, and a higher level cap.

I'm still waiting for a good story at par with their work on Halo. Maybe that will be free DLC. :-p

Speaking just for myself, I say the battle is over. PlayStation won. There's nothing that Microsoft has done or will do to complete favorably with Sony at this point. The writing was on the wall since before the gen began. It's going to be PS2 level domination. So yeah, based on userbase, even mediocre games are going to dominate the Wii U and Xbox One heavy hitters.

So a game made by Activisipn and Bungie is a given to beat a game made by.... Whoever the hell mad TitanFall. That's just how I see it. Sony fans may want to run it in the face of other console fans but it's pointless. You guys won. Enjoy it.

Oh yea, I forgot that Titanfall was made by a bunch of nobodies.  Well, just a ton of former Infinity Ward devs, including the heads of the team.  You know, the guys who just made those VERY niche games, COD 1&2 and COD:MW 1&2.

Lol, so is this really how you're going to play it?  Pretend you don't know who made Titanfall, so you can act like Bungie is SO much bigger and more important than IW, so this isn't a victory?  Even though COD is WAY bigger than Halo?
