The numbers are quite low, but not bad. Not close to Bayonetta PS3's opening numbers or even XB360 numbers, but it was to be expected.

Why was it? Xbox 360 can do higher Bayo numbers, with a lower install base, whilst having it release multiplatform on a much more popular system in Japan, how is that expected?

Home consoles no longer have the same impact as they did back in those times.

WiiU has a higher install base. All owners are relatively new, they bought one to buy software surely?

Not talking about the home hardware console market, talking about why Bayo sold less on WiiU with a higher install base than 360.

Those numbers are very bad.

"Bayonetta 2 was released on the 20th. This is for the week 9/15 - 9/21. It was released for one day and still managed to take the 3rd spot."

Wii U is a platform primarily aimed at family friendly/casual audiences first.

Bayonetta 2, Devil's Third, Xenoblade, etc. are their occassional "hardcore" title that they put out now and again (usually 1 per year). The Wii had the same setup with things like Sin & Punishment 2, Metroid Prime 3, Zengeki No Rengleiv (Dynamic Slash), The Last Story, etc.

The whole platform just isn't working out period, consequently even things like Wii Sports and Donkey Kong Country aren't selling that great for it.

My immediate question is how many Bayo 2 copies need to sell for it to break even? Too often people just measure a game's sales up to some arbitrary number.

A lot.  The first game didn't make Sega enough money to justify continuingly pumping money into the sequel and that title sold over 2 million on both the PS3 and 360.  Bayonetta 2's budget is higher than the first.

Do we have any actual numbers though? Yes it sold over two million but that's numbers as they stand today after inevitable price cuts and such. As for the budget being higher, are we sure of that? Advertising has been limited to Nintendo directs and the game seems to recycle assets from Bayo 1.

What I'd like to see is actual numbers.

Wonderful 101's budget was Platnum's biggest.  If you think Bayonetta 2 is gonna be smaller than that, or smaller than thte first, then I'm not sure what to say to that without getting banned

And yes Bayonetta was discounted, what makes you think the sequel won't be?  The game's not gonna magically outsell the PS3 version with the Wii U's current install base, or even the 360' version.

Everyone in Japan is playing Smash 3DS. WiiU is an afterthought there right now.

Did greatttt

Lol? Did great? Is that sarcasm because it did absolutely horrible. Destiny on PS4 sold 3 times as much, Destiny, a FPS in Japan...... wow.

Also the the Wii U has 3 times the install base than the PS4, this game absolutely bombed.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this came to other consoles, the tweets from the director of Bayonetta said Bayonetta 2 was already in development for consoles so all that shit about "Bayonetta 2 wouldn't have happened without Nintendo" is bs now.

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

I don't understand Japan.

Even if B2 comes out on other consoles, Ninty fans would still say how B2 wouldn`t have happened without Nintendo.
