>> THOSE ARE ONE DAY SALES. IT RELEASED ON THE 20TH <<

2 days of sales.  It released on the 20th and the tracking period runs to the 21st.

20th + 21st = 2 days.

Well Nintendo, at least you tried. Now that you don't have your biggest game (Mario Kart) to release for the Wii U, your game system will for the most part continue to sell less than 40k. This generation will be ps4 at first xbox one at second and Wii U at a large distance last.

It did OK, but not "greattt"... :/

Just a reminder to people who are going to shout "Sold less than 360 version of Bayonetta"...

Nintendo systems typically produce longer tails in game sales than other systems. It's too early to say anything about how it'll sell in any ongoing sense. At the very least, wait for week 2 - both versions of the first game dropped by about 80% in the second week, which would correspond to sales of about 8k for the Wii U version. My prediction is that it holds relatively steady - maybe 25k.

Anyway, my point is, first-week sales have never been a good predictor for Nintendo systems, beyond the obvious (if it sells 1 million in week 1, it's probably going to do pretty well).

No, why don't you go back and look at other WiiU games in Japan. Unless it's Pokemon, Monster Hunter and Mario, there are no legs.

For 1st party software and a few select outside franchises; that might be so. For 3rd party titles overall; not even close.

Pretty bad sales to be honest.

Well it did better than I thought it would.

I was thinking 15-35K. I guess COMG must not have much of a "core" Nintendo fan base.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

How will this play out in this thread?

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

It's actually not quite as bad as I thought. I was bracing for a 25k-range opening. Is it great, no, but its in line with DKC: TF's launch, so Nintendo can't exactly single it out.

Nintendo should stick with it, they're never going to build an audience for this style of games if they keep starting from scratch. Go ahead and greenlight Bayonetta 3 if Platinum wants to make for Fusion/4DS/whatever-they-call-it and grow the franchise.

They can maybe port this game in the future too to their future handheld.

I almost kinda wonder if Nintendo should just start a subscription model for this style of game (Bayo 1/2, Hyrule Warriors, Fatal Frame, Xenoblade, Devil's Third, etc.) where you get access to all of them for a subscription fee ala PS Plus, kind of a premium service for older Nintendo players.

Or maybe something like Nintendo club, but something specific for these style of games where you get bonuses like art books, figurines, etc. for buying in.
