I don't care even the smallest amount and most Americans don't care. It's only those who who are looking for political ammunition who are pretending to care. It means nothing unless you're a political sheep following your chosen shepherd.

Besides, the President is a civilian.

Aye, and the salute is a very exact motion, and a civilian is never required to know it exactly, like they are in the military.  It's also not a requirement for the President to salute back, either.  I believe it was actually started by Reagan, to be cool, but it's done by President's now as a form of courtesy/respect.  Still, I would argue every non-military President that's ever been elected has half-assed or completely fucked up the salute on a consistent basis.

There are too many imbeciles in America looking for the President to do anything so they can bitch about it. Then next election they'll sit on their lazy ass or vote for a Democrat or Republican again. They're too mentally retarded to realized that there are more than two political parties, and more than two candidates. They probably don't even know that they can vote for themselves! (As long as you're 35 and a born-citizen, you can be President)
