Last month when the New 3DS and New 3DS XL were announced, there was no mention of a New 2DS but then again there was never an old 2DS in Japan which is the only region to get a formal announcement of the New series. So when the New series gets an official reveal for America/Europe will there be a New 2DS with all the improvements of the others minus 3D?

I want to say, probably not, but is possible after a couple of years cause the 2ds is ment for entry level and its mostly for kids so idk if Nintendo should put more effort into upgrading the 2ds since most "core" 3ds gamers probably wont get it anyway

i just think having NFC/Amiibo support without the need of an add-on is pretty important for the sku meant for kids.

You may have missed this in the initial flurry of news, but it was confirmed for Europe for 2015 and presumably, NA around the same time

Oh, my mistake, I misread the title...I thought you were asking if the west would get the New 3DS, which it obviously will.

Maybe they'll quietly slip an NFC chip in there, but I don't think they'll do any kind of official rebrand for the 2DS.

A little out of topic, but speaking about the 2ds, playing smash in it feels so great and comfortable. I feels so much better that the 3ds
