Bungie by Microsoft for me is the top one, they would NEVER be there without Microsoft.
Then I would say Retro Studio/Rare by Nintendo followed by some Sony studios.

Naughty Dog, Rockstar North, Media Molecule, Monolith Soft., and Bungie. Lol basically what everyone else in this thread said!

Naughty dogs

I'd say Naughty Dog, though Retro Studios is also right up there with them.

Pretty much any studio purchased by Sony/Nintendo has been for the better (barring some examples, of course).

I guess you can't really count Intelligent Systems as an acquisition because Nintendo technically started the studio.

1. Naughty Dog (Sony)
Jak and Daxter, the Uncharted trilogy, and The Last of Us are all fantastic games and there's more on the way with Uncharted 4 on the horizon.

2. Rare (Nintendo)
From 1994 to 2001 Rare could do no wrong. DKC trilogy, Killer Instinct games, GoldenEye, DK Racing, Banjo-Kazooie games, Conker games, Jet Force Gemini, DK 64, Mickey Mouse racing, and Perfect Dark...

3. Bungie (Microsoft)
While only making the Halo series, they were fantastic games and gave Micosoft a de facto mascot in Master Chief. The Halo trilogy and its prequel Halo Reach are all worthy playing for their story, gameplay, and excellent multiplayer.

Xenoblade, Xenogears, and Xenosaga 3 might have been a good game, but the whole "they piss excellence" isn't true.  You make mention that Xenogears and Xenosaga was rushed to their completion right?  Xenogears was, sure.  They didn't have the time to finish the entire second half of the game so it's a lot of text.  Xenosaga though?  It wasn't rushed to completion until the third game, and t hat was only because the main writer quit.  Xenosaga 3 also happened to be the best in that franchise.  The first one had a great story but the gameplay was horrible.  The second one had horrible gameplay and the storyline while decent, could be skipped completely.  If they pissed excellence, every one of the Xenosaga games would have been great not just the "rushed" third one.

And what about Project X Zone?  I've never played it, but I've heard that while it's fun at first, it becomes very boring very quickly and stays that way for the rest of the game.  That the only good thing about the game is the fanservice and flashy combos, but after the first dozen or so times, they get old.  Would you call this "pissing quality."

Just because their latest game is good doesn't mean they haven't released some bad games.

Xenosaga Episode II was made pre acquisition and who knows what it could have branched into had the six part series been.... Well... A six part series instead of three.

Project X Zone is great, I'm sorry if you or your friends didn't like it, but every game has their people that do not like it. That's just the facts of life.

Zipper Inter... wait, no. Psygno... damnit, no. Naughty Dog! Yea! Also Guerrilla Games and Sucker Punch (may be a bit early to say that one?).

Psygnosis made top games which were highly rated, yet Sony offered limited promotion or marketing. Sony acted like a total bunch of arseholes and closed down a studio with a relatively rich history, after using and abusing them. So shame on Sony, who certainly wouldn't have done that to a Japanese studio.
