Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bungie responds to Miyamoto

Metroid and Halo are very different Games, but yes, Metroid is a better game. I wont go on a rant about Halo cos i will be labelled a 360 hater, but i never thought it lived up to the hype. Everyone has seemed to take what miyamoto said the wrong way it seems :P

I always hated Halo Multiplayer. It lagged like shit. It had a bunch of Deathmatch stuff and that was it. Today I watched the Halo 3 Gameplay video from the beta, and it had the same damned lag that I am used to from Halo 1. Why is a multiplayer that sucks so hard so popular. The single player was better, but it continuously re-used the same building designs. What I liked about Halo was that ammo was never an issue. Just pick up one of the many guns lieing on the floor when you run out.

Using Halo in the context of the comment should actually be seen as a tip of the hat to that game, but people just hear what they want to hear.

As to Bunggie's response - thumbs up. At least they managed to take their jab at it with some humor. I do hope this dies here, though.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

Ok. neither one mean any disrespect, Miyamoto was not singleing out a particular game or system, if WAR 3000 was the hit game he would have made refference to that, And i think Bungie meant their comment as a joke Anyone ever send/recieve a text message and you think its negative??? thats because you can't hear the tone of voice. Miyamoto has been respectfull for years, Bungie, well I do not know enough to make a comment but I am sure they didn't mean disrespect! Kinda like telling your friend, in line waiting for that system, "I'd kill for that system, or d kill sor those tickets(in refference to a concert) That is what I think!

This is exactly what I was thinking.  Everyone seems to be taking out that sentence between "I could do Halo" and "I choose not to."  That is the sentence where he says I could design a game like Halo. LIKE HALO and DESIGN are what sticks out to me.  Instead everyone is making him say "I could make Halo, I just choose not to" which looks a lot worse than what he was actually trying to say. It is being exaggerated more than it should be, because he never said Halo was a bad game.

Miyamoto said he could have made Halo, but he didn't want to, cause he doesn't like those kind of games. Does anyone actually doubt that he could make any type of game he wanted to? He never even said there was anything wrong with Halo just that it isnt his type of game.

Any self respecting videogame designer can make Halo. Halo is a mediocre FPS. Miyamoto can easily make Halo. All he would have to do is take Mario 64, make the perspective first person, give Mario some guns, give the goombas and koopa troopa some guns and there you have it. A Mario FPS.

All Bungie's tongue-in-cheek comment means is THEY AREN'T BOTHERED by Miyamoto's comments. So if the VERY DEVELOPERS of Halo aren't bothered by it, then you people on the web have even less business getting so worked up.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I honesdtly believe that if they tried, Bungie could in fact make a great 2D scrolling game.  I believe that as much as I believe Miyamoto could make a Halo-type game.  Both have a great deal of talent, but the fact of the matter is they all make the games they wants to play.  I don't see anything Miyamoto said as an insult, especially since he never said he could make it better.  Really, this should be taken as a huge compliment, not insult, simply because Miyamoto knows how good he is and he never once said that he was more talented.  To be held in that respect by him is a big deal, and Bungie should feel good about it.

Miyamoto could make a great FPS is he wanted, he doesn't.  Bungie could make a great 2D scroller, if they wanted.  Miyamoto never took that away from them.  Honestly, I believe he actually respects what Bungie does even if it's not his cup of tea.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

You guys use to much logic, for shame! How are the fanboi's supposed to get all worked up if you try and convince them the comments were all fun and games?
