It has come to my attention that we have been speculating about China in a way that suggests that Microsoft will have exclusive access to that market.  Obviously, we know that this isn't the case.  Without a cleanly defined release schedule for either the prospects of a "first to market" advantage are growing smaller and smaller.  Therefore I believe that any and all speculation is valid at this point. Given Sony's recent success in outpacing the PS2 in Asia, can we expect for their current sales trends to be translated into a similar situation in China?  Or will new experiences like Kinect be a bigger draw?

I would really like to hear arguments for both systems.

Microsoft is only allowed to release Forza and Kinect Sports Rivals and some smaller games, I assume the same restrictions are gonna be applied to Sony.  They are not gonna succeed with these terrible game lineups, Nintendo has the best chance, but I don't even know if its been confirmed that the WIi U will launch there.

The importance of game linups in Asian markets are probably hugely underestimated.

I think the Chinese government will initially approve the sale of 5 million of each console and they (the govt) will wait and see what happens from there. When's all said and done as long as China stays a tightly controlled market I don't think there will be any long term advantage to any particular console. I wouldn't be surprised if the chinese govt waited until close to the full 5 million allocation is sold, assuming they all get 5 million allocations, for all parties before they approve another allocation for anyone.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

If Sony release ps4 too late i guess it will be x1

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

A lot of folks believe that the Chinese government will be too restrictive for consoles to grow.  I believe that the approval of 5 million for Xbox One by itself proves otherwise.

The Chinese Government.

China is in dire need of games, it could be any console. I would prefer it to be the Wii U so they can dominate on the hardware sales, but it'll be either between X1 or PS4.
