Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does MS really deserve praise for "listening" to consumers ??

Yes. They deserve. Everyone makes mistake and if they rectify it its good.

Shouldn't the intention behind the mistake matter?

If I attempt to murder you but put away the knife after some stabs because I realize that you don't like it and I can see the error of my ways. Should you praise me for that?

No. You should say "About fucking time, idiot!" and then never buy anything from me again.

Exactly the point I have been trying to make.

Take sony, after starting PS+ the started the IGC and offered some games for free every month on their paid service. A very same paid service that MS had been doing for over 5 years but never did something like that. Now thats praise worthy. Then now sony is doing the PS share thingy, which will basically allow anyone play the games you have on your console from wherever they are. That is also praise worthy.

Telling you I am sorry for stepping on you is not praise worthy. I honestly can't think of one praise worthy thing MS has done this generation with the XB1. I would have said the addition of media playback and external hdd use for game installs, but thoese are both thing sthat these consoles should have had to begin with and both sony and ms were stupid to not have them at launch. Then again, those things aren't even core game console features.

No, they don't. Why? Cause they DIDN'T listen to their customers. There was a storm brewing on the internet and gaming community ever since the plans for the One were rumored. Weaker HW and DRM BS. Then, it got MUCH larger after the reveal and larger still during E3. Did they listen? No. What did it was when pre-order numbers started coming in and they were getting stomped. And yes, pre-orders must have been much worse than what VGC had estimated. A company doesn't switch their position/vision when the difference wasn't that large. The truth is, the One would have been lucky to be at 3M now if they had kept their original plans in place.

So, they were listening to the money, NOT what customers/fans were saying to them.

No they don't. Why should they deserve praise for doing what they should have done in the first place instead of pissing off fans?

It's like if Sony started to support the Vita tomorrow. Why praise them for doing what they should have been doing since day one?

MS didnt really listen to consumers. they listened to sales numbers. if they did listen to consumers the xbox one wouldnt have been the turd it was back before all those 180's.

Microsoft did not make all of these moves out of good will and certainly not out of some sort of benevolence from the cockles of their hearts. The market has dictated and they have reacted, nothing more.

This. Had they listend BEFORE the reveal or right after then yeah we could pat them on the back. But it took poor numbers for them to turn around. They listen to numbers not consumers. Anyone says otherwise is lying to themselves.

You need to buy 3 PS4 Knack bundles to repent.

I will be honest with you. I never had the intention to buy PS4 this early. But in order to respect their decision against DRM I got PS4. I have purchased only two games. Infamous second son and watch dogs. I liked both of these.

I still play more in my PC and PS3. PS4 is now packed in the drawer. Waiting for worthy game.

Please no. Not knack. I will buy anything but knack.
