Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does MS really deserve praise for "listening" to consumers ??

No. No no no and no.

Thats like praising someone for behaving himself in prison after committing murder.

This also goes to show how fickle consumers are to begin with. MS should NEVER have done tried to do the things they tried to do to begin with. Its not like people didn't know about it or that they didn't know what people were saying before they launched. Every single thing they tried to do didnt sit well with the mass market. Yet they still went on and bundled kinect. Hell, the very nature of their hardware was marred cause of what they were trying to do and consumers that support them will have to live with that for the rest of the generation.

When a company is on top, you get to see their true nature.

With sony, it was them going all gung ho on hardware and making something that was ridiculously powerful and advanced that ended up costing too much and being too hard for developers to work with. Think of it, the all round best PS3 was actull the launch PS3. Blu-ray player, wifi, HDMI port, full BC, card readers and a HDD in every console. That was sony feeling they could do anything and it resulted in really good hardware. Albeit too expensive.

With MS, they tried to change the way gamers bought and played their games and force gamers to take permission from them to play their own content. Force Tv passthrough and kinect down peoples throats, always online and connected console.....

I dread a world where MS is the leader of the gaming industry. And any sane thinking consumer should too.

Not really, it's the role of the underdog to listen, especially after all that they did during the reveal.

No, I don't care how much you like Xbox we all know if positions were flipped flopped none of these deals would have happened.

They don´t even deserve praise for creating WINDOWS. Now, let´s move on.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Yes. They deserve. Everyone makes mistake and if they rectify it its good.

not everyone makes these big of mistakes.  Never recalled the other two doing this.  Sure Sony was priced high before but it was for things that were good for gaming and they were losing massive amounts on each system so it wasn't greed.  When Nintendo forced a gimmick they made sure it was affordable and used it in every first party title essentially (no matter how well it worked I at least give them credit for fully commiting).  They never tried to block used games which is the single largest consumer rights infringement and almost ends up defeating the purpose of a console.

Have you forgotten killzone and motorstorm CGI? Or dual; yes dual 1080p output for PS3? I havent. Point it everyone makes mistake. And everyone deserves a chance. Sony made a mistake with PS3. Nintendo made a mistake with Wii U. And microsoft made a mistake with Xbox One. And they are trying to correct it.

Sony wasn't forgiven, neither was Nintendo. Why does Microsoft get better treatment?

No, they realized from consumer backlash that the policies they were attempting to enforce were going to ruin their gaming division completely. They made the changes, in order for the division to survive, not because they were doing Gamer's a solid.

Now, moving forward, when Microsoft does gamer friendly things, sure, you could argue that absolutely. But, I wouldn't say they deserve credit for everything they've done up to this point.

From the comments of many it seems opposite. But I dont care. I got to play awesome exclusives because of these mistakes.

They don't deserve praise, but they do deserve recognition.

Microsoft did not make all of these moves out of good will and certainly not out of some sort of benevolence from the cockles of their hearts. The market has dictated and they have reacted, nothing more.

They don't deserve praise and they don't need anybody's forgiveness. Listen to your fans because they will tell you everything you are doing right and wrong. No company deserves praise unless there is one out there that gives stuff away for free and I don't know any that does that. Like one poster said they do deserve credit for turning things around.
